2nd Week

Postby DonnaS » June 12th, 2007, 5:41 am

Down 6 lbs. this week. I thought it would be more because I feel like it is but I'm happy with what I can get. Yesterday I had 3 shakes, oatmeal, soup and L&G which was pork loin and green beans.

Nice going Donna! 6 pounds-- :woohoo: WTG!!

Try not to skip those meals though ... even if you have to eat them closer together. Your body needs the nutrition and it's easy to down a shake even right before bedtime!

Keep on shakin' :beerbeer:

Yesterday I said that I would take that 6 lbs. but I was a little disappointed about losing only 6 lbs., I expected more. Seeing less than a 10 lb. loss was hard and I was wondering if I made the right decision doing medifast. I did the SB diet a couple of years ago and lost 13 lbs. the first week and went on to lose 35 lbs. but like any other diet, once you go back to eating normal, you gain the weight back. My reasons for choosing medifast was the quick weight losses and trying to get my eating and drinking under control. Reading all the success stories finally did it for me. I do realize that it is going to take time and I didn't put the weight on overnight and I'm not going to lose it overnight.

The week was very different and a little difficult for me. Friday at the scrapbook convention, watching my SIL and another friend eat mexican food in front of me. Also being at the bowling alley that night and not having a beer. Saturday night at my house all the adults were having a good ole time out in the game room playing shuffleboard and pool. I did realize that I could have just as good a time without drinking. I guess, for me, it's a lot to deal with the first week on medifast.

Today I have a better frame of mind and will keep on keepin' on until the weight is gone. I knew before I started that this was going to be a busy summer with a lot of things going on so I'm going to get thru it the best I can and be a better person for it.

Donna, something that I've noticed in my own weight loss history is that the first time I tried a certain type of program I lost a lot of weight, the second time I did a similiar program my losses weren't as big. Example....I tried a diet called Prism, it is similiar (to me) to SB and Atkins in that you do not have any sugary foods nor foods with white flour. I lost 22# in 6 weeks. Decided that since I was doing so wonderfully that a few chips with lunch wouldn't matter and from there on out I didn't do well because I tweaked the program to include a bit of whatever I wanted to eat until I was no longer eating on program. I never could get myself back onto the Prism program once I went off of it, even though I tried numerous times.

Then I tried Atkins....my weight loss was nice but no where near 22# in 6 weeks......and once I stopped the Atkins, I never could get myself motivated to stick to it again even though I tried quite a few times.

When I began MF, I had nice weight losses, but again, nothing touched the Prism losses. I believe it is because the 'magic' happens once and then our bodies remember that they've been on a similiar journey and do not respond in the same exact way as they did the first time. I have heard that others have experienced the same thing---first time on a carb restricted diet/program gives excellent results and then the next time isn't as impressive (but still is quite nice). Maybe this is what has happened for you, too.

Because I failed at restarting the other programs once I began having off program foods.....that is why I am so adamant that I not do that this time. I do not want to visit that same place that I've been twice before---not being able to get back on program once I've gone off of it.

Just my experience........your mileage may vary. ;)

Don't be discouraged.....just keep your head down and keep moving along the MF program's path. The weight will come off, at a nice pace, even though we'd wish for faster results (I think I'd wish for faster results even if I were losing 3# a week,).

You lost 6 pounds your first week? <img src="http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w153/maizak/success3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"> WTG!

Donna, Chynna has given you very good advise :D The weeks pass quickly and the lost pounds add up fast! Just stay focused on your goal--not just the number on the scale, but to be a healthier and happier person! You are on the right track. 8)

Good job, girl!!!! I, too, have learned that I can have fun without alcohol. That was always the party started and I must admit....I really love and miss cosmopolitans....but I really love the way I feel (no irish flu in the morning) and look. :pour:

Hang in there and keep your focus on what is ahead....

Thanks ladies for the encouragement.

Tawanda, I have heard that it's harder to lose like you do the first time around when you have quit and restarted a diet; although, I had forgotten about it. I'm trying not to be discouraged but pressing on. I'm not hungry most of the time but my mind starts wandering sometimes when I see a commercial or an ad about food. Anyway I'm in a better frame of mind today. Thanks for your post.

Chynna, I am known as an impatient person but I'll be better when I get a month behind me. I'm going to try and exercise pretty soon and I'm wondering if I should have another supplement each day that I exercise to keep me from stalling. Guess I'll figure it out when I get to that point. Today has been a good MF day!

He he, I love your lady on the scale Mary and I'm going to try and be patient (what else can I do). Thank you; I will certainly try and stay focused on the goal.

Slimmin, yea it was a little difficult but after watching everyone I felt much better about my decision not to drink.

Yesterday my supplements were the same as Tuesday and today will be the same. I'm running out of Chocolate shakes, which I really love, so I need to order more tonight. I have only had 2 bars and they are pretty good.

I plan on scrapbooking tomorrow to keep me busy along with some housework and will bowl tomorrow night. I certainly will not drink as much diet coke as I did last Friday night (wish they had caffine free) since it kept me up later than I wanted to be. I have had no problem getting in at least 64 oz. of water each day but not much more than that most of the time.

Woke up with a headache this morning and figured out I didn't have that last supplement before bed. Instead of a shake this morning I had a bowl of oatmeal. I'm completely out of chocolate shakes so I am ordering today. I guess the chocolate with a scoop of instant coffee in the morning is my favorite meal. I usually put it in a blender with ice and a little water, it is soooo good. I had two shakes, oatmeal, soup and L&G yesterday and all my water; my L&G was turkey and salad. I am going to make sure from now on that I get all my meals in.

It is easy to skip supplements, especially after we have been Medifasting for a few days and not really hungry. So be vigilent about those supplements!

Hi Donna - glad to hear that you are doing so well. I know it can be difficult at times. I had a business trip within the first couple of weeks on program and we were surrounded by food. Then when we went out at night - everybody was having interesting foods and drinks - while I just played out the L&G. There was even one night where there was dinner around the pool with all these different ethnic choices - I had to search out my L&G which wasnt' easy. I ended up having romaine lettuce with grilled chicken strips and since I didn't know what the salad dressings were made of - I ate it dry. It was the pits but I knew I made the right decision.

Everybody mentions eating turkey on their salads - are you just using deli turkey? I have yet to try that but would be interested in knowing what brand of turkey you are using and if it's sandwich meat? Thanks!!
