Chili-need ideas

Postby sheri1103 » December 1st, 2006, 4:52 pm

Well since we are on the subject of "food" does anyone have any ideas on what can be added to the chili? I can't tolerate spicey spices; but am open to suggestions. I tried it last night and the boxes promptly got shoved to the back of the pantry. Thanks!

I still eat the chili in maintenance. I add a bit of Better Than Bouillon chili base (maybe a quarter of a teaspoon or so?), some dried onion bits and some cumin. I mix it all together with the packet of chili and some water, leave it in the fridge for at least a few hours, then nuke it for 2 minutes when I'm ready (and usually stir in a tablespoon or so of salsa before I eat it).

I know this sounds weird but I added a spoon of kimchee to mine last night and loved it. Kimchee might be too spicy for you.

sheri, i love mine with a tablespoon of salsa (mild, i just like the flavor, not the heat) and some minced garlic and cumin, but i've also heard others say they add some Molly McCheese.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to find it in my area. You may be able to find it. People say it's great also with the broccoli soup.

i always try a few different ways even if i like the first way, just to see if something could be better. good luck!

Hey, Mary, I get Molly McCheese here. It's either at Kroger or Albertson's, I can't remember which (but those are the two supermarkets I usually go to). Or MAYBE at Super Target. I used to put it in my broccoli soup sometimes.

Garlic and a bit of Grandmas Chili powder. I used to add a teaspoon of bbq sauce, but decided that the chili powder worked just as well for me.

Chili Powder
Cumin
Salsa

Those are what I add. It comes out tasting pretty darn good when I make it. Thats not to say that I like it at all "undoctored".

Wait a minute...HOLD THE PHONE!

Super Target???? I've never heard of it. I want one! I NEED ONE! Image

Sorry. I'm ok now.
No chili advise for ya though. It's too "beefy" for my liking. ;)

OK Veggie-tales :-P Want a Super Target? We pass one on the way in to San Antonio. The Johnny Carino's that my family used to go to before we all started the program is in the parking lot of the Super Target.
