Hello, Everyone! Nice to meetcha, DeDee! Dobby is a french bulldog. I do need to get an avatar without glasses on. :D It was SO hot that day!

Troy and I had a really big fight last night. We've been together about 3 years all together, married a year and a half. We've fought before and been really upset with each other. But we've never been so completely angry, and we've never truly hurt each other like this. I know our relationship will heal. But I think I'm mourning the loss of the sweetness of us. Although we'll move past, now we'll always have this scar we never had before, and I'm so sad that now it'll always be part of who we are. :sadblue:

Fortunately, it hasn't made me want to eat or cheat on MF. But this has definitely drained all my energy.

You are doing great - what progress! And I love your little pooch - I have a little lap baby - she's a Havanese, about 9 lbs. Don'tya love how the dogs are always excited when we come home?

Aww, sorry to hear of your tiff with the hubby. I know what you mean about not wanting to have that scar on your relationship. When my husband and I got together, we broke up a few times at first - it was a little stormy at the beginning and I was sad to think I would always have to remember the arguments we had, etc. :x But really, we're married 5 years now and rarely argue. The "bad fights" we had at the beginning seem so long ago I can hardly remember them. Your relationship will sweeten with time and more shared experiences (at least that is my wish for you and all of us!)

So sorry you and DH had a fight and you feel so emotionally spent ... being in good relationship with each other is what we are called to do though at times it is difficult. Conflict can be the impetus for growth and a new understanding of each other--newfound sweetness! In marriage it is sometimes more important to accomodate each other's needs rather than offer a compromise. I hope you and hubby can communicate your needs in a way that is enriching for your marriage.

Thanks, Mary and Frankie! It's good to know others have weathered the same and made it through just fine!

Dobby has been so much fun! We also have four cats - 3 Abbysinians (known for their mischieviousness! ) - Lila, Poppy and Orphan Annie - and one tabby (my dumpster kitty, John Doe). I've had Johnny for 15 years now! She was just going to bunk with my college roommate and me until this guy who found her found a home for her. He dropped out of school and disppeared, so I figured John Doe had found "his" home. After a visit to the vet and a sex-change operation, Johnny has been with me ever since! Troy and I both had dogs growing up, but Dobbs is our first dog as adults. She's definitely stubborn and has been hard to potty-train, but she's so much fun! :D

The first few years of marriage can be rocky because you're still learning about each other. I can remember some doosy fights we had early on. Now, after 31 years, we hardly ever fight and when we do, I can't stay mad for long because he's so cute when he's trying to make it better.

It can also be the impetus for new jewelry. I'm not being facile-just my experience.

Biki - LOL! You're hilarious! Always got the right angle!

Thanks so much for all the advice and support. Getting married later in life sometimes feels like I'm getting to the game so late I'll never figure out the rules. It's so good to get perspective from you all and to realize it's just a bump in the road, not the end of it.

Still sticking to the MF plan! It's getting easier to drink water. NEVER thought I'd say that! :D

Hello to all! Still keepin' on keepin' on. Not much new to report. I weighed yesterday and I weighed the same as the week before - 204. But man, that's 26 lbs down since the beginning! I'm stickin' to the plan. Last week was TOM, anyways, so that probably had a bit to do with it. And on any diet I've been on, I always seem to lose in steps - nothing happens, then suddenly a few more lbs off, then another wait, then another loss. At least that's one thing I learned from all those previous diet attempts - not to get discouraged if there's a delay!

Well, my long-suffering gal pal Judy and I tried another exercise class. This time we decided to check out circuit training class. Do ya'll know what that is? I've done the Curves thing before and liked it - I just never stuck with it. Circuit training class was sorta like Curves, but apparently for already fit folks with a good sense of balance. Judy and I join the circle and then the teacher pops out - and it's the little water aerobics nazi!! Arrgh! A tiny person with WAY too much energy! And an amazing set of lungs. Then the music starts, and I swear, everyone in the class knew exactly what to do except us! By the time I'd get myself going on a contraption, the nazi would blow the whistle and yell "NEXT STATION PEOPLE! MOVE!!" Argh! I'd try to disentangle myself and stumble to the next station before I slowed up the person behind me. Then there was the giant rubber band. Spent several 30 second intervals without ever figuring out that one. Then the giant rubber ball. I was standing there staring blankly at the ball thinking, "Do I throw it to someone?" when a girl in a half-shirt with 6 pack abs said, "You lie backwards on it and do sit-ups." Seriously??? This girl was obviously not in the Sexy Salsa-cize Dance Class I attended.

So, I think my days of getting creative with exercise are over - for now. Stay tuned for future humiliating disastrous attempts. I'm still not coordinated enough to read and walk on the elliptical machine at the same time, but I've found books on tape are a good alternative. At least it doesn't require a sense of rhythm like salsa-cize and it doesn't try to drown me or balance me backwards on a ball. And there's no giant rubber band involved.

Have a great one, Ya'll!

:D

Right now, I'm still in the mind set that exercise is to be avoided. ;) I know it can be enjoyable and even fun......but I'm not going there yet.

You are welcome to join me in my exercise avoidance, if you wish.

:D

I enjoy your journal entries.

Stacey your funny experience reminds me of that episode of Golden Girls when they decided to join a gym. An annoying skinny perky person was leading them too.

NOW YOU HAVE MY ATTENTION! Peanut butter?

Postby Slimmin' » May 16th, 2007, 1:48 pm

WHAT? Peanut butter is a LEGAL MF snack? Where???? How much??? That's WAY too good to be true. Ya sure? Cause if you are...and I can document that somehow (information hound that I am) I'm SO stopping by and getting a jar of low fat extra crunchy something....

Well, another day, another exploding chili. You'd think I'd be on to that one by now.

I haven't made exercise a regular part of my routine yet. I've been working a lot and will be thru June. We have two co-workers out so I've been taking advantage of the opportunity to make a little extra. :) So my exercise has been kind of hit and miss. I really want to start making it part of my regular routine in July, though! I think maintenance will be easier if I've already made regular exercise a habit by then.

Slimmin' - I think peanut butter IS an approved MF snack! I haven't eaten it as a snack but I've found Biki and Lizbette know a lot about what is and isn't ok during weight loss. I just discovered MF peanut butter chocolate bars! I've been on the program 6 weeks but I kept forgetting to order bars until now. I LOVE them! I hear the mint chocolate ones are amazing, too! I love peanut butter, too. Reeses' are my all-time favorite candy.
