No Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Postby just_julie » April 24th, 2006, 9:00 am

I can't take credit or blame for this, but...

In the Granola thread, people started talking about the raw cookie dough being the best part of cookies. There was talk of a freezer cookie, and I just had to experiment.

I just mixed 1 maple oatmeal and 1 chocolate shake together with a little water to make a very sticky dough. Sorry I don't have the actual amount. I just added a splash at a time because I didn't want it to get too watery. Dropped spoonfuls of the mixture onto wax paper and put it in the freezer for 15 minutes. Pretty yummy. Definitely different. I made 12 drop cookies, so 6 cookies make a serving...

I'll definitely give this a shot! YUM!

How do you think it would turn out if I used DaVinci chocolate syrup instead of water and omitting the chocolate shake? It would be one then...but seems like it might work.

I'm sure that would work fine, unless the shake helps with consistency. I thought about adding my PB syrup with the chocolate shake. For some reason I didn't order the chocolate syrup. I guess I figured everything that I wanted chocolate was already chocolate! Didn't know I'd be putting it in my oatmeal!

Would love to hear about everything you try!

I'll try it and report back to ya. ;)

The chocoholic that I am...I picked up the chocolate syrup to add to the choco shakes and hot choco to make them chocolatier. :)
I also like it with the strawberry and banana shakes.

Man! Just like cookie dough - this is RICH! I just tried to eat my 2nd batch. I don't think I can finish it. Try this, but only once in a while. When you want something gooey and different...

These sound sooo good. My mom used to make these and they have to be my all-time favorite.

Ok...don't use straight chocolate syrup. They were alright...but something just didn't taste right. I'll try with the choco shake next time.

I made some today and they were pretty good. I added a mix of coconut & chocolate syrups in. I also did not measure the water, but I made it kinda a thick pudding-like texture.

The oatmeal made it taste like I was eatng coconut flakes.

Great idea!

Mine also made about 12-13 of them. I have a batch in the fridge for tomorrow

How much chocolate syrup are you talking about? You probably shouldn't use more than a few tablespoons.

Since we can have some cocoa powder as an add in (not every time though--it's 20 cal for 1 tablespoon)...I take 1 packet of oatmeal, add about a half tablespoon of cocoa powder, stir well and moisten with SF hazelnut syrup, then roll into balls. Awesome and rich rich rich!

This is one of my newest favorite recipes. I really need to order some peanut butter SF syrup though. It's missing the PB flavor. Yum, I'll have to try it with some cocoa. I have some great cocoa from Penzey's that's sitting all abandoned in my pantry.

I must have done something wrong when I made these a while back. Mine were slimey and really spongy.
