Almost to afraid to start

Postby xwoman » April 21st, 2006, 12:48 pm

Hello,

All of you have really been a BIG help to me, to make the decision to start Medifast. I am ordering today. My big problem other than being 40 and 260 lbs. is I have tried other plans, only to loose NOTHING. I gained on Jenny, WW I lost 1/2 lb in 30 days of NO CHEATING. To be safe I have seen a doctor, ran every test, all is well. I can begin. I PROMISE to post a before pic and one per month, updates every week. My question is...what do you feel is the single most important thing to do on this plan. I also ask, has anyone ever NOT lost weight?????? :?: :?:

Thanks in advance, you all THE BEST I should add I do not exercise at all at this point

Hi!

Welcome!

I can certainly relate with you. I've tried everything, including WW twice and never had success. I couldn't stay motivated to lose .5 of a pound per week! I actually found it really easy to cheat on their plan within the points system.

For me, Medifast has been the easiest plan I've ever been on. I just remember when to eat, and now that I know what I am eating, it's easy. I've lost 40 pounds in 1 month. Motivation is easy to keep since you do see results right away. You need to be compliant with it to see results though; otherwise you are defeating the purpose.

Take it 1 meal at a time and trust me, within a week, you will begin asking yourself why you didn't do this years ago! I know I did!

Good luck!

It has basically been said but I will say it again...if it is not in the Quick Start book don't put it in your mouth. This program really works! Just stick with it and when you get frustrated come here and vent.

You have a whole group of supporters here for you.

So far, so good for me. I started the program less than 2 weeks ago and I am down14 #. Some lose slow, others fast. But all in all, everyone who follows the plan as written is losing something. Just follow the plan, get a health advisor and listen to him/her. You will do GREAT!!

I'm like you, too. I'm over 40 and I stuck to those other plans to the letter, only to either not lose or worse, to gain weight. This is the only plan in YEARS on which I've lost weight. I lose more slowly than others no matter how closely I follow the plan, so it's taking me longer, but the fact is I'm still losing.

Trust me, it's much easier to stick to a plan when it's working.

Welcome xwoman!
I gained on Jenny Craig, too - and I didn't cheat at all - go figure!
I really believe Medifast works if you stick with the program - which says not to exercise for the first few weeks & then go with moderate exercise.
I know you'll do well here!

I totally agree with everyones comments. This plan is sooooo simple to follow that unless you cheat you are going to lose. I think this is why it is working for me because you don't even have to think just take the packets and shake or stir and go to town. The other thing is that the weight falls off so quickly that it motivates you to keep going. It took me over 6 months to lose 35 pounds on WW but I am already up to 12 now in 3 weeks on this. Big difference between the two. You can do this we are all here to help you on this journey :)

Hi There,
I know you can do it. The plan is simple -- don't add to it and don't take away from it. Be very very compliant. Make sure to weight and measure when it comes to your lean and green. We generally aren't tooo good at guessing. Drink your water!! Keep posting, -- it's great accountability and lastly get ready to go looooooking for smaller clothes. You'll need them soon. :D

I HEAR YOU, THANKS

Postby xwoman » April 21st, 2006, 6:42 pm

Thank you, everyone. I now am convinced I will lose the weight with medifast.

I hear everyone, RULE #1 Quick Start, if not in plan, it's not in mouth.

WATER WATER . Are the Chicken Noodle soups meal replacements?

My husband who is very picky is considering a try also, he has a hard time drinking what he does not like, maybe I will motivate him. Does anyone exercise on the plan? I am confused as to how much is allowed, I don't want to sabotage myself.

Yes, soups, oatmeals, shakes.chili, cappucinno, chai tea, hot chocolate, drinks and bars are all count as meals. The only things that count as snack are the crackers and the fast soups as well as the celery sticks, pickles and jello.

Good luck!! I find the shakes delicious when mixed with crushed ice!

xwoman,
The chicken noodle soup is a meal replacement as are all the soups except the fast soups or broth/boullion.
Exercise is allowed, with restrictions - no exercise for the first 3 weeks or so if you're not already excercising and cut your workouts in half if you are already exercising. Refer to page 7 of the Quick Start guide for the exact details & check with your health advisor if you have any additional questions regarding exercise :)
I hope you're able to motivate your husband - the program is amazing for women & spectacular for men - take a peek at a few of the guys in this forum! Their results are phenomenal!

Hi Xwoman!
I just wanted to say hi and welcome. I'm so glad you ordered! I also started at 260ish...Believe me this is doable! Plus, you're a step ahead of me, you found this forum BEFORE you started. I did it alone, and having your own roving band of question-answerers and cheerleaders is invaluable!

I'm glad you're going to walk this journey with me!

Post all you want, ask anything you need. We're here for you!

Also remember, no more than one bar per day.

The cocoa is also delicious with cold water and ice in a blender. Be sure to visit the Lean Cuisine section for ideas on doctoring up the packets to make them more palatable.

And watch out with exercise. For a few of us, weight loss completely stops when we start exercising. I used to work out before Medifast and had to give it up for a while. I plan to restart as soon as I can fit into my goal size.
