TGIF...finally...

I woke up Monday morning in the Dominican Republic and finished up the week in Akron, Ohio. Something just doesn't seem fair.

Overall the week was good and I got back on the MF wagon. I gained a whopping 9.5lbs on my 10 day cheat and have lost 4.5 of them so far. I am hoping that when I weigh in Sunday morning I will have lost a few more.

It is amazing how you can fall into old habits very quickly. It will certainly make me nervous when I get to the maintenance phase of things. I will really need to be on the exercise wagon at that point in time.

Anyway...it was good to be back home and back on the forum. There were so many unread posts when I got back that I couldn't read all of the threads...so to be honest, I cherry picked the ones that sounded interesting. Though I am still trying to pick through and see if I missed something relating to sex, cupcakes, yaya's or what not. Cause I definitely need to throw in my 2 peso's worth of comments.

Anyway by popular demand....here are a few random thoughts.

I can see why Americans are not so well liked but other nations. the Ugly American stigma is alive and well. I tried not to propogate it anymore than necessary...but others that I witnessed gave a lot more validity to the stereotype.

Understand that when you travel to a different country you should act a little more humble!

I learned that a smile and a wave crosses many language barriers.

I learned that you don't have to know another person's language in order to have a conversation.

I also learned that saying "gracias" in an oriental restaurant will elicit stares and chuckles. (Went out to lunch the first day back in Ohio and I said gracias to my waitress when she refilled my water glass.)

I think the other countries have it right and understand how not to be uptight about their sexuality. Which means I vote for women going topless on our beaches!

I also learned that after viewing a few pictures of myself taken at the beach and the pool....

My muffin tops are shrinking....but they could be smaller.

Hasta La Vista my little chickadee's!

Yeah, it sounds good in theory, while you're thinking about young, perky boobs. Some of us have such overflowing cupcakes that going topless would be fraught with danger. I'd go for a jog and knock myself unconscious in 10 steps. ;) Hopefully I'd get someone like Alex to wake up to instead of Wildtrk. No offense, Wild, but I think Alex is more my type.

Why not the ones that you are dating?

Sunday...

the weekend is almost over tand the daily grind will continue tomorrow. Compliance can always be an issue on the weekends. Hey let's go out to dinner, go to a movie, how about a ball game. Which translates to Oohh...let's try the new chinese buffet, pig out out over priced pop corn drenched with a buttery substance with more trans fats that I can count...and did anyone say ball park franks with stadium mustard and onions. 4 of those should be enough warm me up for a couple of pretzels and an order of nacho's. Oh yeah...need the bag of peanuts to go along with that as well.

I am sure many of you can relate. weekends aren't the easiest but if you want it bad enough you can stay compliant. I went to a minor league baseball game last night with all of my family and all the in-law's, nephew's and niece's to celebrate on of their birthday's. 2 - $3 bottle's of water was my only consumption. Now I did cheat a little last night. I took one of the mother's little helpers that my physician prescribed in order to help curb my appetite. Which in reality I am not sure why I even used it. Cause having a full stomach never stopped me from going back up for another ball park frank before. My mantra was that you "eat through the pain!"

Anyway...so far I am making it through the weekend unscathed. Have a little yellow fin tuna with fresh asparagus waiting for me in the fridge for dinner, and I am sipping on a shake right now to tide me over until then.

Random thoughts...

While watching the baseball game last night I saw numerous helicopters land and take off from the nearby Children's Hospital. My youngest son also saw the helicopter's and said that he wants to ride in a helicopter some day. I silently whispered a prayer to myself that he never gets to ride in THOSE helicopters.

Incredible that the guys I watched play baseball last night probably scrape by on next to nothing. Yet the ball park charged the same priice for concessions like I was watching guys making millions a year! Something doesn't seem right.

Anytime I am channel surfing and "Hunt for Red October" is on I will watch it. Alec Baldwin was still the best Jack Ryan.

Anyone ever look forward to a rainy day?...I cleaned more "fat" clothes out of my closet today!

Which means....

My muffin tops are shrinking!

Oh--I hope he doesn't get to ride one of "those" copters either. That was a terrifying flight for me when we took a trip on one. Take him to the Royal Gorge, and take a copter tour of the gorge and the surrounding area. That would be much better!!

I don't Like Monday's

Anyone remember that tune from the Boomtown Rats? Not sure what made me think of it besides the fact that it is Monday and I am still having a vacation hangover.

I spent what seemed like the whole afternoon rearranging my closet yesterday. I went through my dressers a few weeks ago and moved out a bunch of fat clothes...the closet still had some lingering, and the things that were marginal 5 weeks ago now are in the "too baggy" pile. In a way it was great....but it is also looking a little bare on the suit rack. I have 3 suits which 2 are new and fit great and one is a re-tailor that I will grow out of within a couple of weeks. This is barely getting me by for work clothes since I have to "suit it up" 4 days out of the week. It is strangely depressing and uplifting all at the same time.

Random thoughts...

"El Dorado" with John Wayne and James Caan is a movie that I will watch every time it is on. Rio Bravo and The Sons of Katie Elder are two other classic John Wayne films that I will always watch.

My 12 year old is having a hard time distinguishing the difference between the words privilege and right. He thinks it is his right to have a cell phone and I am letting him know it is a privilege to have one. Unfortunately for him it is not a privilege for a 12 year old in our family.

Anyone else remember School House Rock? Lolly, Lolly, Lolly get you Adverbs here!

I found some of my really skinny clothes from quite a few years ago when I lost weight on WW. These are a testament that my muffin tops are still too big.....

But...They are still shrinking!

Ouuuut!

Heh kids always have trouble with right and priviledge. And they always seem to think that if their parents won't give them something it's not because they can't (afford it or whatever) it's because they enjoy being mean and withholding. ah well they'll learn that's what being a kid is all about.

As for movies.. I bring soy crisps and a nutrition bar and drink diet coke or water. It's not the same, but it conquers my craving for the popcorn at the movie thing. A movie in a theatre just isn't the same without popcorn (or soy crisps!).
