Struggling with 20lbs to go

Postby FertileMyrtle » December 29th, 2006, 8:20 pm

I CAN'T DO THIS!! What is wrong with me??? After 15lbs gone in 3 wks, I got very sick over Christmas and did not eat for 4 days. Then I took a day to make sure I was OK--so I was "off plan" for 5 days, lost 5 lbs, then gained 8 back in a matter of hours. So now I'm up 3 pounds.
I was 100% compliant for 2 full days and factor in some womanly issues, and I just ate a few handfuls of chips! And a few cookies!! I just ruined 2 days of work, and I did not care!! I feel so terrible about this 3 lbs, and I feel ready to quit. I'm exhausted.

I just need some perspective, and some motivation for the next 20 lbs. I excercised today and yesteday--I feel so hungry. I know I could eat another supplement, but I am trying to stretch them out b/c I dont think we can afford another order for like 2 weeks. (I have one weeks worth left).
I have been doing great with water. One good thing. :)

Yes you can chica! Buck up! :pet:

You are losing at a stupendous rate -- 15 pounds in 3 weeks!? Dang! Share the wealth! :D

I'm sorry you were sick... but I think I can see what happened here. First, no eating for 4 days means huge fluid losses, not to mention your body will come out the other end of that wanting serious FOOD. Your regaining (and coming up 3 pounds) could be due to water bloating. Do not panic!

Womanly issues plus salty chips could mean more water attachment also.

Step away from the cookies. Cookies are the devil! ;)

You could be exhausted because you just got being over sick and are diligently exercising. What does this exercise consist of? Remember we need to be rather wimpy in our exercising on Medifast. If you are being too hard on your body, pushing it beyond its limits on the small amount of calories we get, for sure you will be tired, craving stuff... and frustrated.

You can't get away with stretching out supplements if what you body needs is more to get along normally. Well, technically, you can, but then chips and cookies happen ;)

If you need to cheap out, and I for one totally get this, eat/drink all the supplements you need to not go off plan, then switch to low-carb & low-fat eating until you can reorder. Don't starve yourself, binge, regain and quit please!

You are doing GREAT. You CAN DO THIS. You're understandably feeling low right now, but rest up, feed yourself properly, and you will roll right over this little bump in the road :D

Wonderful response, Berkshire! Sigh of relief...One thing I have learned in the last day is not to put so much "weight" on what the scale says over the course of the day- a new one for me, since I just got a scale and I'm becoming obsessed!!
After I ate my chips, I weighed and had lost 2 of the 3 lbs.
Thank you so much for that multi-faceted, sympathetic explanation! I think I needed a little peptalk--u know how it is when u dont feel well!! Boo hoo!! :(
No matter how discouraged I feel, I know that I can't give up! It's like I have blinders on and cant see anything else except "GOAL!!" Even with liitle bumps, I know that I just created more work for myself!
With other diets, 10 days in I had cheated big time!! On MF, my cheats have been nibbles--othing compared to a huge stuffed meal with tons of ice cream, etc!
Thanks again, and good luck to u, Berkie.

Sarah had a great post. Don't give up!!!! You will only be more miserable down the road if you try to restart and think about where you could have been if you'd never stopped. I know that feeling well.

Do take it easy on the exercise, but don't get discouraged. You have made great progress already and more is on the way - we all know it!

And the low-carb advice is good, too. I'm grateful I read that, actually, because I can foresee a time when I have to "supplement" my MF between orders with these bills we have piling up all the time. It can be done, and while all MF all the time is of course the best option, make the best choice you can with what you have.

I wish you strength! We are here for you!

Just to reiterate what these great ladies have told you.
When you are sick, your body is not in the mood to burn fat. :nonono: It wants to fight whatever the problem is :shoot: , so it will hold onto the fuel :dunno: (especially if you aren't eating while sick). Also, depending on the type of illness, you can get dehydrated (so drink lots of :water: ).
Coming off of being sick and then not totally restarting the program (as Berkshire says, step away from the cookies ;) ), you may show a gain after your body rehydrates and the carbs kind of take-over :wallwall: .
Chin-up, think happy thoughts, get back to the plan, and that weight will start to drop.
 :thumbig: :kool:
