Started Back at Curves

Postby mellowmom » April 15th, 2006, 12:31 pm

Per Nancy and the Medifast Guide, I took it easy. Our local Curves has all of these "extra" workout stations, so you only need to go around 2x in order to complete your 30 min. workout. So I just went around once. Felt okay. not tired at all. Even stretched afterwards...something I hated to do in the past. I think it may have to do with the fact that we now have this stretching apparatus there, which no longer requires you to get down on the floor. I always used to skip the stretch because I knew once I got down on the floor it would take me a long time to get back up, which was pretty embarassing. :help:

Tomorrow I plan on walking on the treadmill for 15 minutes. Hope to do a mile at that pace. I'm curious to see if this will affect my weight loss. Will let you know at the end of the month. :treadjog:

When I got my measurements done I had lost a total of 15 1/2 inches (minus the calf measurements...they don't do those anymore??) since my last pre Medifast check. So I was happy with that.

Thanks again, for all the good vibes and support coming from this board. You are the best!!

Mellowmom,

I started Curves after I had been on Medifast for about 2 1/2 months. With Curves, you can make your workout as hard or easy as you want. I just kind of take it easy on the recovery mats and work pretty hard on the machines. I guess there were a few weeks of adjustment time where I didn't lose much.....hey, my body was saying "wassup?" because I hadn't exercised for years.....but now I go 3 times a week and my weight loss is a steady 2 - 4 pounds per week.

Did you all notice this Excel worksheet Unca has up for us? It's AWESOME, it tracks everything I use it daily. :)

Jo,

Thanks for the info. I'll prepare myself to have a weight loss slowdown for awhile while my body adjusts. (I hope it doesn't take too long, though. I'm an impatient type, and am currently thrilled with the rate I'm losing.)
But, thanks for the head"s-up. It will keep me from getting discouraged.

I had gone to Curves many years ago. Over a 3 month period I lost 30 pounds on it coupled with WW. I got totally addicted though and was working out 6 days a week :exercise: .

But then I started having a lot of joint pain and just stopped. I went and "hit the wall". :brickwall:

I think it was Musical Mom who told me on this board that that many consecutive days wasn't a good way to exercise. So now, I'm going to go no more often than 3x a week.

Again, thanks for the info :jumprope:
