Can I add salt (in moderation) to the soups and stew without causing a problem?

Sure. You might retain more water that way, but it's just water.

Unless you've got a problem with high blood pressure or some other condition that limits your salt intake, you should be fine.

I add salt or garlic salt to my stew or chilli or soup with no problem, not even water weght.
