Revved up Chili

Postby Kimbob » January 25th, 2004, 7:45 pm

If you haven't already had any crackers for the day, here is a great way to rev up the chili recipe.

Add a little extra water then the box requires, and add your crackers prior to cooking the chili.

Also add:

Curry powder
Garlic Salt
Crushed Red Pepper
(all to taste)

The chili comes out nice and spicy, and the soft crackers cooked into it really add some bulk on those days where you just NEED to eat something.

I also add to my chili:
--a small amount of chopped celery
--1/4 cup petite diced tomatoes (only about 15 calories)
--lots of chilli powder
--1/2 teaspoon beef and onion flavored boullion

Definitely does help having something with a little "bulk" to eat!

I cook my chili for about 4 minutes and then let it sit for a good long while. The longer the better. otherwise it's very uhh chewey? Theres a good recipe in the recipe guide from medifast, I will find it and post it. I think that's where I read it. :bib:

I read on a post where Nancy said she cooked her chili on the stove top
versus the microwave, so today I added a little more water, a beef
bullion cube ( low sodium) and let it cook on low for about 5 minutes, then added in a teaspoon of mild salsa and some MF crackers.

YUMMY!! Very Very :) good!! I liked the chili plain, but this was awesome!

Revved up chili...

Postby gr8views » November 12th, 2004, 4:54 pm

That's great news, Mary... I'll have to try this...

I LOVE chili - especially in the winter. I just ordered a box and probably should have ordered two. Oh Well. I will next month...

Being from the Land of Enchantment where our state question is "Red or green?", I have to be a hot, spicy chili lover, don't you know!?!?! (For those of you not indoctrinated to New Mexico, red or green or Christmas refers to chile... It's not the chili I was familar with... Long story. If anyone is interested, I'll post about it sometime. Camille can help since she is a Native New Mexican... I'm just a transplant...)
