I have been heavy for almost all of my life. When I was in the second grade my mom accidentally ran over my leg which left me in a leg cast for 3 months. That was the last time that I was at a normal weight.

Being FAT in high school was really hard. I tried my best to fit in but for some reason, I dont think I ever did. When shopping for clothes, I was often embarrassed to be seen shopping in the women's section when most of my peers shopped in the juniors. Did I ever shop in juniors? I dont think so.

After graduating from High School, I had a realization that I would be fat for the rest of my life and I came to terms with it. In my first semester of college, I met my best friend Christy (She goes by Charity on this website) and soon left my island home of Honolulu, Hawaii to venture and work on the Walt Disney World College Program in Orlando, Florida. That was in the Summer of 1999.

I met my husband a few months after arriving to Orlando and because he had met me when I was "fluffy" I had no desire to lose weight. We never really "tried" to have children, but after 3 years of NOT doing anything to prevent it, I still was not pregnant.

In 2003, a few ladies at work decided to join weight watchers and so I jumped on the band wagon and joined in. I sucessfully lost 25 lbs in 11 weeks and on the 12th week I found out I was pregnant with our 1st child Zachariah. I imediately quit WW and swore that after giving birth I would join Weight Watchers again. That was 2003.

On July 17th, 2007 I gave birth to my 2nd child, Sarah Makiko.

My best friend Christy came to visit for 10 days after the birth of Sarah. She left a few days ago and before she left, we promised each other that the next time we see one another, we will be skinny. She was very successful on the program losing about 30 lbs in a short period of time. She taught me everything that I need to know, paid for a months supply of food and introduced me to this website. I cannot and will not let her down. I WILL keep my promise to her.

With all of the support from everyone on this site, I hope that I will lose the 100+ lbs and be healthy for myself but most of all for my children. I tell everyone "God put me on this earth to be a mom". I cannot and will not let me children down and die young.

I will need encouragement so please check in with me and hold me accountable. If requested, I will do the same.

Aloha and watch out because here I come!

Hey Steph,

6.5 lbs so far? And it hasn't been a week?! Wow you really are on fire. You are going to catch up with me in no time! :D

When are we seeing eachother again anyway. Are you coming to Hawaii next year or will it be me coming to visit in the summer? Let's plan goal loses in the amount of time left before seeing eachother again. Other than fitting the aloha dress which I predict you will fit in a month and a half tops.

Quetsions from all of you... the experts

Postby oubelqasse » September 18th, 2007, 10:24 am

Help! I have some quetsions that perhaps some of you can help me with.

1. I started the program last Thursday the 13th, so I technically have been on program for 6 days. I started at 258 and this morning weighed in at 245.5. (13 pounds lighter) THis is a lot of weight gone in such a short period of time. Is this OK?

2. In most of the material it reads that they "recommend that you drink 3 shakes a day". Do I need to drink the 3? Can I substitute a medifast meal instead of a shake and maybe only have 1 shake a day? Will I lose the same amount that I am now?

3. I have read throughout the forums and everyone is truly inspirational. I keep telling myself, I will be 100 pounds lighter in no time. I cant wait! My question is however I have read on more then several pages that some people are taking additional things to help them loose weight rather then just the plan. Diet Pills, etc... I want to loose weight fast so is it OK that I purchase some off the counter pills to help? If so, what pills should I purcahse?

Thanks again for everyone's responses and encouragement!

Hi, Stephanie! Congrats on coming on board (to both Mf and this forum)!

First of all, 13 pounds is fantastic, and nothing to be worried about...a large percentage of it was just pure water weight. When we aren't dieting, we tend to eat excessive amounts of sodium which makes us retain fluids. Additionally, we tend not to drink as much water when we're not dieting, and these variables contribute to ongoing substantial water retention. Your first week on MF (as is the case on most programs), you get very little sodium, drink infinitely more water, and suddenly flush out (of your body and into the toilet!) all that excess! So, that's where the big loss comes from...don't fret, be excited!

Next, the 3 shakes a day thing is old news, and not something you need to follow. You can have any mix of the MF meals, except you can not exceed one bar per day, as they have higher carbs/calories than the others. But you can have shakes, oatmeals, puddings, soups, anything!

Last, you WILL lose weight fast on this plan, but please do NOT purchase pills. First, they're not necessary - all the science that has gone into MF has made it virtually impossible to not lose weight. I lost 165+ pounds on MF, and have maintained for close to a year! Second, they're NOT healthy. There is no diet pill on the market that will be a healthy choice for you - most have ridiculous amounts of caffeine, they're practically speed, and the newer ones, like Alli, block fat absorption, which you will already get so little of on MF, you can't afford to block it, you will need it to keep your hair, skin, and nails in tact. And lastly, you, who was concerned about 13 pounds being too much in a week, and now you want to go faster? Just breathe, Stephanie. I know you're excited, but cut yourself (and your body) a break. Do the program, follow it exactly, drink the water, exercise after 3 weeks, you will lose the weight and lose it fast. And be happy, and proud, and know that you are making smart and healthy choices!
