Hi - Newbie on Day 10!

Postby vegasmedifast » July 5th, 2007, 7:02 am

Hello all!

I'm on Medifast to try and lose about 80 pounds. I'm down about 14 pounds since I started, most of which I attribute to water weight, etc.

I feel great, love the program but I am feeling the occasional urge to eat "real" food...I am a comfort eater. I have a toddler who eats mashed potatos, cheese, pasta, etc... and I want to eat those things when I feed her!!! BUT I DON'T! I don't want to mess up what I've started.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and I'm grateful for the forum!

About me: 32, Female, married mom of 1...wanting to go from 250 lbs to 170 lbs. I live in Vegas, work from home and have the full support of my husband.

Please feel free to email me if you want to connect and be buddies, etc...I can use lots of support and advice.

Thanks for reading!

Welcome, I'm sure it is tempting to eat those things when your feeding your child but keep the willpower strong. It will get better.
I am in the middle of week 4 have lost a little over 31lbs and have noticed in the last week and a half of two weeks that i dont crave things at all like i was occasionally yes but not often. Yesterday i strayed a little i think maybe a little to much steak and veggies that we grilled.

Just keep doing what your doing and before you know it those cravings will be gone

BTW im kinda jealous  I used to live in Vegas, twice actually. I graduated from Western High, though i sure dont miss that traffic out there

Oh check out the Lean Cuisine (sp) section of this forum there are tons of recipes there and also ways to spice up your MF replacements

Hi Larry,
Thanks for the welcome. Vegas traffic SUCKS!

We went to a BBQ yesterday and I brought my own salad with chicken. It was very tempting to see all of the yummy food on the buffet table but I stayed strong.

My biggest obstacle right now is that I keep weighing myself everyday. I am getting obsessed with it. I think I'm going to put that scale AWAY, far away. My clothes already fit better and I'm going to use that as my tracking system. Otherwise, the scale goes up and down everyday day and I freak out. But I'm sticking with it!

Shari, if you think it might help, try chewing on a piece of sugar free gum while feeing your little one or try to make that your supplement time and cut up your favorite MF bar into small pieces, eating those while you feed your daughter.

You can do this!

i just weigh myself every Sunday morning when i wake up. weight can fluctuate to much during the day plus it seems to me it could be discouraging if you see no change or a small gain because of water etc... so i just do it at about the same time every Sunday

Hi Shari,

Vegas huh? Whooeeee it must be hot down there. I am in the mountains of northern Calif and we hit 90 today.

When I started MF I had some clothes that were too small (some from the past, some as a motivantional gift from a friend). I tried them all on and wrote down things like " 5" to button or too tight in thighs". I tried them on every week and that is how I tracked things. I am happy to say they are all too big now and have been donated. It was kinda fun.

The scale can be very fickle. I used to weigh every morning and now I just weigh on Wed and Sun for roll call. There are so many other ways to measure success. The scale has been known to throw me into a funk! Who needs that?! :D

You said you had the urge for real food. Are you doing a L& G every day? It can make a huge difference just to have a real meal.
Reached Goal Nov 2007 61.5 lbs lost
Gained 11 lbs in Mexico 3/08, decided to lose that along with another 5 lbs!
