Newbie and Ready

Postby FertileMyrtle » November 22nd, 2006, 5:05 pm

Hi All! I am Andrea, a mom of three babies from NC. I received my Medifast Starter Kit today-it only took 3 days to get here, cool. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and I am anxious for Friday-that is my Start Day.

I chose Medifast b/c I do not have time to think! I understand ketosis and LCD's, but I can not do it when I'm making 16 plates of food a day for my family! I eat very little refined carbs as it is-but my body loooooves to keep itself padded after a pregnancy! I have a three year old, and one yr old twins (all girls), so yes, I had three kids in two years. That in itself qualifies me for Medifast, right?? lol
I've been at Curves for 8 months, and have lost 16 in, 10 lbs, and 2% BF, but I need that scale to moooove! I did South Beach, and that took off those 10lbs, but working out has only built muscle, which is great, but c'mon-all that work and no scale movement?
I am 5'10" and 189. My normal weight is 155-165. This seems like a huge hurdle to me, small enough to be impossible. I am pretty educated on nutrition, once a vegitarian, a health food store manager once, and an avid Farmer's Market shopper. We eat fairly healthy as a family-greens, lean protein-chicken, fish, turkey, vegetables-whole grains--very limited refined or processed foods. ( A tight budget has made me healthier believe it or not! Yet, another reason I must succeed Medifast-so my hubby gets his money's worth!)
SO I am excited that Medifast is soy-when I was a veg head, I did a lot of soy and just recently I read that my blood type does well with out dairy. (Blood type diet)

I dont imagine I'll have a hard time with cheating, but I am glad for this forum. I know I need to drink water, and thats something I must remember to do!Anyway, you've heard all this before from others-just wanted to get myself out there and accountable!

Looking forward to helping each other succeed!
Andrea

Thanks for the warm welcome, folks! I've read many posts by many of you and I feel like I already know you!
DeDe--I read a ton of yours, starting way back-but I'm a bit fuzzy now--can you sum up your MF experience for the sake of encouragement?
I have to go shopping tomorrow so that my hubby doesnt starve these next months-that kinda sux-food shopping on Day 1, but I'll just have to buy him stuff I dont normally buy, and therefore stuff I dont like.
I'll keep ya'll posted, and hope each of you had a lovely holiday. We decorated our tree today--this is one of the first years my 3 yr old GETS it--she was super excited about putting the candy canes on the tree.
Thanks again for your warmth!

My experiences on MF have all been positive, I've posted a bit about what happened in my journal, but if you have any specific questions feel free to PM or e-mail me!

Now as for the shopping...don't forget to shop for yourself! Get the legal stuff...celery, pickles, SF Jello, SF popscicles, etc. Ask us anything you need to! The first few days suck for some people, but we'll be here for you!

Day one done

Postby FertileMyrtle » November 24th, 2006, 6:15 pm

Well, I made it and I must say it was a breeze. i was pleasantly surprised with the oatmeal and chili, and the shakes arent bad--I had the fruit flavors (I don't really like fruit flavored anything!) but I look forward to the chocolate.

I'm not terribly hungry, and it seemed like I ate just enough to take off the edge and hold me over till the next round. My L&G was totally fun and yummy. It's 8pm and I'll soon go make my last shake. I had my bar around 3pm, which is my hungriest time of day.

I put a 2 quart pitcher of water on the counter, its new permenant position, so its in my face.
