My name is <insert name here> and I am a scale-oholic

Postby wildtrk » May 10th, 2006, 9:29 am

This is orginally posted in the scale slave thread. Thought it really would be better to be posted in its own thread. Please forgive me Unca if this is out of line.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay...It is time to come clean. My name is Wildtrk and I am a scale-oholic. It has been 4 hours and 15 minutes since I last weighed myself.
Since I started MF I have become co-dependent on the need to use my scale. Though recently I have come to realize that I have placed too much dependence on what the scale is reading when I step on it.
Here is a little quiz to see what your level of dependence is. Answer the questions below truthfully and add up the points.
See what your level of dependence is when you get your final score.
Who here weighs themselves more than 4 times a day?
1-2 Add 1 point
2-5 Add 3 points
5+ Add 10 points
Who here has ran to the scale the minute they watched their spouse pull out of the driveway?
Add 1 point if you said yes.
Who here will specifically go out of their way to use the bathroom that the scale is in just so they can secretly get a quick "update" on how they are doing that day?
Add 1 point if you said yes.
Who here has been visiting a friend and you use their scale for "independent" verification?
Add 2 points if you said yes.
Who gets a little rush of excitement when they get on the scale at 8:00PM and they weigh the same as when they checked themselves at 8:00AM, and you know that if you just go to bed now you will be at least a pound lighter in the morning.
Add 1 point if you said yes.
Add 5 points if you got up in the middle of the night and weigh yourself anyways just to make sure!
Who here has kept an old analog scale hidden away in the basement just in case?
Add 3 points if you said yes.
Who here has ever changed the battery in their scale just because you think it may be affecting its accuracy?
Add 15 points for the absurdity of it all.
Who here has done a slow striptease removing clothing to try to make the scale read what we want it to read?
Add 5 points if you said yes
Add 10 points if you removed a piece of jewelry to see if that would make the reading different.
Add 25 points if it is the middle of the day and your spouse catches you standing on the scale wearing nothing but a silly grin because you are 1/2lb down for the day.
So what is your total score
If your score is...
0 - 3 Points
You are most likely in denial, fess up, we know you lied.
3 - 10 Points
You are comfortable with the progress of you weight loss or your spouse has done a good job of hiding the scale or you are in denial.
10-25 Points
An intervention may be in the works. If all the sudden your entire family invites you into the living room for a "meeting"...quick...run to the bathroom for one last weigh-in.
More than 25 Points
Take comfort in the fact that you are in good company. You are a scale-oholic and how long has it been since you last weighed your self?
Wow. I only got an 11 - although it would have been a 36 if I were married or 37 if I were married. (And more if I EVER weighed the same at night that I weighed in the morning.)
Score 47. But we have an alarm in our driveway so hubby can't sneak up on me and I saved those 25 points.
Hi
OMG! That was SO funny! I'm the one that knocked on a co-workers hotel room door at 3am and demanded he not give the scale back until Sunday. By 8am I was begging for it! He didn't give in!
I was weighing myself every time I peed (which, let's face it folks is A LOT on this plan). I was making myself crazy! I have some distance from it now and only weigh 1x a week (for roll call) AND 1x per week (Tuesday for my REAL weekly weigh in).
If you guys start a scaleoholics Annonymous 12-step program, sign me up...
:lol: :lol: I only scored 7-I gave myself 5 for the slow striptease-but in reality I always weigh naked so I don't have to worry about the added weight of clothes! :lol: I weigh myself once in the morning and once at night before bed(I am curious to see the difference to see if I can predict what my morning weight will be because I am too impatient to wait that long-and it seems to be consistent that I am 3 pounds heavier at night then I am in the morning) I won't weigh myself at any other time of the day and would never use anyone else's scale-besides I am sure none of my friends want me standing naked in their bathrooms :lol:
I am so guilty! :roll: I weigh myself more than anyone should know!
Totally obssessed with my scale, that I tried to hide it but that doesn't work!
I agree with Dede...sign me up for the 12 step program!
Gee, I'd love to take the quiz but I don't have time. Hubby is gone working a night shift and I need to run through the house, gather up all the scales, change the batteries, pee, strip off my night gown, undies and bracelets and see what my 2 AM weight is. I'm anxious to see if I've lost anything since my 8PM weigh-in. :lol:
