Name Game

Postby pinkbugs471 » March 28th, 2007, 4:43 am

After reading so many posts, from so many different people, I have decided to ask a question. What is the story behind your screen name? :?:

Mine is thanks to my youngest son Joel. (now 21) When he was 7 or 8 he asked for and recieved a "thing maker" for Christmas. You all remember those from when we were kids. You squeeze some liquid plastic into a mold, slide it into a oven and it bakes into a small toy.

Well I used to play bingo with the girls every week. At that time you still had to use chips to cover the numbers that were called. My chips were of course pink, my favorite color. One day Joel asks me when I play bingo how many cards do I watch? I did not think anything about the question and told him 21.... I did not realize when he asked that he had been making little pink bugs in his thing maker for me to use in the free space of my bingo cards. As I recall there was only one mold for that bug, and each one took about 20 minutes to make. It was quite a project.

He was so proud of himself when he wrapped up the pinkbugs, and gave them to me for my birthday, along with a big hug. :birthday: After that the name just kind of stuck, and I use it everywhere. Even though I no longer play bingo, I still have my 21 little pink bugs. They are tucked away in my mommies memory box right there with the first lock of hair, and first lost tooth.

Oh, it's a childhood nickname. Biki for Beak-my mother called me that because my mouth was always open like a baby bird waiting for a worm and Patra because of my childhood interest in Egyptology from which my sister combined Biki with Cleopatra to be Bikipatra. There's even more to the story but poor Joleen has heard the whole story and I think I overwhelmed (bored?) her enough with it! To this day my sister calls me Pats, short for Bikipatra and my mother calls me Beak.

Seaside -- not too creative, it's just where I like to be! Since 1990, I've always lived within sight of the ocean, which is my criterion for fine living. :D

Great thread idea. BTW, I love the screen name 'Tawanda'. Honestly, it just cracks me up. :D

Anywho, my screen name is after the name of my company - Good Taste Events. Shucks, I'll even offer a shameless plug here:
<snip>no urls please - Mr. Snippy</snip>
Take a peek. It's a fun site (or meant to be!).
Cheers!

That link won't be here long, I'm afraid. Mr. Snippy will see it soon.

We did this once before, but I'll play again. Mine's easy, too. I have two canine kids, so I'm a Dog ma.

My name is what my dad nicknamed me as a little girl. Since I'm still daddys girl even though I'm married and a mother myself I had to stick with that.

My name is not Donica. That was a nickname a friend gave me when I was younger. The "B" is my last initial.
