I've missed you guys so much!

Postby Joelie » May 22nd, 2006, 7:05 am

 I'm sooooo behind...it's gonna take me a week to catch up!

Sorry I haven't been around much. I had a little emergency come up last Wednesday and actually had to go off of Medifast for a couple of days while in the hospital. I had Appendicitis. Image
Thank god we caught it in time before it burst though. *WHEW*
I'm home now and recovering...but man o man this is the pits. :|
Because of my medical history I had to have the old fashioned appendectomy so healing time will take me quite a bit longer than if it had been done laparoscopically. What a way to get some time off work. hehehe.

I had to have 2 meals off plan while in the hospital. I picked at it as little as possible though. Doc didn't want to hear anything about my concern of going off of Medifast. Image I just had about 5 bites of mashed taters, about a cup (total) of wild rice with mushrooms, veggies, bullion, VERY sweet jello and fruit juice. Oh...and the worst of all...2 dinner rolls.
I was released from the hospital Saturday afternoon and got right back on plan. I weighed yesterday and am still the same as last Sunday...so I wasn't too disappointed. Image

So...that's where I've been. ;)

OH! A BIG Image to Lisa and Terri for making it to ONEderland!

I am so glad to hear you are ok and recoveringl at home. What a scare I bet. I would not even worry about the 2 off MF meals. The important thing is you are ok. Take it easy and glad to see you back.

Sorry about your scare - eek! Glad you are doing better. Now I am going to impart the wisdom I have been getting from everyone since my knee surgery a couple of weeks ago - you need to do whatever it takes to help your body heal. You may need to take in more calories during this healing time. Nancy suggested to me to add an additional shake or two and others told me to add some extra protein in my L&G.

I am reluctanly listening and have been maintaining for 2 weeks. But I know that they are right about getting 100% and then jump back onto losing the weight. It is important that your body gets what it needs right now. It is hard to follow this advice (at least it was to me) but it is the best thing to do right now.

I hope you heal quickly and get back to your normal routine soon.

Hugs,
Michelle

What everyone else said, Joelie. I'm glad you're OK, but do whatever you need to to take care of yourself. If it means going off plan for a little while or having extra supplements or whatever, that's more important than weight loss right now.

Joelie, glad that you are recovering well from your emergency surgery. Remember, healing is most important to you, first and foremost. You can maintain your current weight, and not feel guilty because you had a couple of rolls, in the hospital! You need added nutrients now, not such low calories. That can be extra shakes, as well as some extra protein, maybe a small extra lean and green once in awhile. I admire you for jumping back on, full speed ahead, but you ought take a few more days to take it easy, for you to get feeling tip top. You had abdominal surgery, not lap, and that takes awhile to heal. :)

Hi Jeoelie. glad to hear you are back, and that they caught it in time! I had mine out in January when I had my hysterectomy. Glad its gone. Take it easy and focus on healing. I didnt have a problem at all losing while healing, you should do well also. You might just want to add an extra shake or pudding to help your body heal. I did that sometimes and it helped.

Thanks so much for all the well wishes and GREAT advise.
It's really odd. I'm not hungry in the least...not even at my regular meal time. But I know I need the extra nutrients and will add a shake or pudding or... :D
