Miracle Noodle?

Postby Mike » January 27th, 2008, 7:08 pm

I had an e-mail from a forum member who asked about this product. I sent a PM to Nancy to let me know if it was okay as I had never heard of it, so I am waiting on her reply to see if its something we could use in our L&G. Until then, thought I would at least throw it out there. Its called the Miracle Noodle and its apparently made of soluble fiber. The claim is no fat, sugar, carbs, calories, so... we will see.

Glucomannan is the name of the substance, and apparently its been researched, but I've never actually heard of it myself.

See, when I was reading all the Lean Cuisine topics on the Shiritaki noodle, I thought that this is what was being talked about. I have been wanting to try them since I did not care for the noodles packed in water. I will be eagerly awaiting the verdict on the dry noodles. :D :D

Nancy said since they are basically 0 everything they should be okay, but to check with Nutrition support or Lori Andersen. I'll try to ask on the call tomorrow night.

There was just an article in ... Women's Health? Shape? I can't remember ... about glucomannan and how you're supposed to basically sprinkle it on everything you eat. No mention of the noodles, though.

Do you remember why the author of the article suggested sprinkling it on everything eaten? What properties it contains that would make it some thing that should be added into our diets?

I've not heard of it.....will have to do some internet searching.

Fro\m what I have read, its akin to Fibersure... it basically helps with your daily fiber intake.

There are some studies that show how it helps with making you feel full so you eat less, and it being no carbs, helps diabetics in that way also.

Yeah, it was a whole diet plan based on this new miracle substance. I didn't pay too much attention, to be honest, since I'm not really looking for a new miracle diet.

Besides, its just a filler. No nutritional effect, and ya still gotta get in the protein and veggies. If you eat this stuff, its gonna fill your stomach and you won't want to eat all of the good protein and veggies that you need.

I can see if someone wanted something akin to pasta and didn't like the shiritaki noodles (at least they count in the green part), that you could have these every once in a while, but I wouldn't suggest this.

Well, you were still supposed to eat protein and veggies and all that (including healthy carbs). I think the point was to fill up and not eat as MUCH.
