Well...I've been literally bouncing back and forth within a six pound range for 17 days! I go up, then down, further down..back up. Like I said, I'm trying to use my NSV's to keep my head up. But this has been a drag. I haven't been moving my tracker to reflect all the ups and downs, because I'd have to change it everyday. Coupled with the docs and their disparaging remarks about the program, it's been a tough couple of weeks.

But, I know this is going to work. It has to. I've run out of options. ( I refuse to consider a gastric bypass.)

I do believe in Medifast... I do...I do.... (Hey it worked for Tinkerbell...)

Carmel, I weigh myself every day and have had many many plateaus, so I know how you feel right now. I need to confess something to you that may help you. Before I get on the scale, I set it to my lowest weight....the weight on my ticker. As long as I am compliant, I don't even check to see how much more I weigh than that. It's funny. I will lose 2 pounds.....then next morning, I set the scale, get on, and bam, the scale tilts up (I have a sliding scale)......no worries because I know in a day or two or three, it will level out again and then I'll lose another. I never change my ticker or even count those little gains! Never, never! When I've lost it, I've lost it....period. I just assume that the little gains are water filling up my empty fat cells and when I'm ready, the scale will move down another pound or two. Have faith in the program.....it works!

Same here. I'm usually down one day, then I bounce up for a week, then I bounce to a point lower than my last low point. I just count the low number.

And I know I've been recommending it to everyone lately, but have you tried adding a shake? It's helped me a lot, and I know it's helped others, too. You might need a little calorie boost, even just for a few days.

Carmel ~ The daily fluctuations are sooo normal and they will not stop. If daily weighing makes you crazy, then just don't do it. Try every other or once a week. You've got great NSV's and you feel great. Just keep the Medi-Faith!!!

BTW, I borrowed your cat graphic. I totally love it!

Carmel-

I haven't seen you in days and I'm having withdrawls. I'm sorry the scale isn't moving. Is it all scales or just the one at home? Does the one at curves read the same? I hope to see you soon. I rather miss my medifast buddy.

Stats update courtesy of "Curves"

Did my monthly weigh and measure at my local Curves today and here are the results over the past month:

Total Pounds Lost: 13 (a little disappointed, selfish me, but I should be happy considering the current "moving plateau" I've been in for the past 20 days! My weight has been fluctuating within a 6 pound range since late June, but today, for some reason it broke through and put me at a 2 pound loss over my previous lowest weight.)

Body Fat Pounds Lost: 10.63 (I have NO idea how they get this number...but I'll take it. Nice to have 81% of my weight loss be from fat and not muscle or some vital organs...)

Total Inches: 9.75 (I think it's really a little more because everytime they measure me they say my abdomen shows no loss! Are they kidding me? I can fit into booths, button shirts that last month I couldn't even begin to get around my stomach... Hey, I have a "SIDEWAYs" now! Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the loss, just think it really is more. Plus they don't do "calves"...not sure what that's about either.

Lost Body Fat %: 1.6% Again, no clue how they come to that magic number but as long as it's going down...it's all good.

Since starting at Curves on April 15th after being 3 weeks into Medifast the totals are:
Weight Loss: 40 pounds
Inches Lost: 16.5 inches
(not counting calves)
Body Fat Lost: 6.10%

But the numbers really aren't what Medifast is about. I have to keep telling myself to not get hung up on numbers. Don't know why I'm like this now, I absolutely loathed math as a kid. I remember I didn't like the fact that there was only one correct answer. So it is with weight loss...no one "Magic Number' fits all.

NSV's are the only true way of measuring how you're doing. The more you get the less you are. (<---really deep thought, lol)

WooHoo Ten more pounds and I"ll be "half-way there".... Hope to be celebrating by August 4th when I see my regular doctor, who'll be back from vacation.

May post a "now" picture in the Studio tomorrow. It will be my 4 month anniversary since starting MF. I will have been just over 17 weeks on the plan. I think the last picture, save the avatar, was at 11 weeks. Will be interesting to see what the observable difference, if any, will be. I think during these past 6 weeks I've lost around 21 pounds. <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_1_108.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D7%252F7_1_108/image.gif">

I don't feel that all my "health issues" have been solved finally, but after the rocky month I've just been through, I am starting to feel "better" again. Still concerned over slow pulse and feeling tired and out of breath working out...but it does seem to be getter better since I cut the meds in half and added some extra "legal" calories to support my exercise routine. Hopefully, after I see my doctor on August 4th he will be able to allay any residual fears I still have. <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_17_1.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D36%252F36_17_1/image.gif">

It's going to be hot and humid again today. <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_1_9.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D28%252F28_1_9/image.gif">

Yesterday the thermometer outside said 108! I'm definitely not built for heat...never was, even during my "skinny life". Much prefer the cooler climes. Maybe I'll retire to Alaska!

Been awhile. Decided to try and post a NSV a day for the month of August. Kind of a medifaster's "count your blessings" diary. Seeing as it's already August 3rd, I guess I'll have to list 3 to get caught up.

Easy peasy... this has been an NSV rich couple of days.

1) At the Garlic Festival I was able to easily step in and out of the picnic bench/tables. Christmas of 2005 I couldn't fit facing the table...too much tummy, so that was pretty cool. It really struck me, wow I can do this and not get stuck.

2) At the ball park yesterday watching an A ball game, San Jose Giants vs. High Desert (Victorville) Mustangs, I arrived late and had to find my friends sitting in the bleachers. Found them and without thinking I just stepped up onto the seats and walked up them to my friends who were sitting in the middle. I can't remember the last time I just walked on bleacher rows without having my sons on either side of me, keeping me from falling off. My balance has returned!! yayayay. I couldn't believe it.

3) This is a silly one, and again has to do with balance, but now I can put my pants on, one leg at a time, without having to hold on to keep from falling over. I could sometimes get one leg in, but NEVER the 2nd without leaning on the footboard of my bed. Today I stood in the middle of my room and got them on. No problem. I was able to stand on one leg....Now that has been a really really long time coming!!!

More to come... Feel free to add your own to this post. Or maybe we should start a separate post...Our Daily NSV's. What do you think?

Numbers, numbers and more numbers...

Four and a half more pounds and I'll be half-way home!

I can't believe it. Hope to make it by my 5 month "Anniversary". That's will be on August 25th.

Means that I lost 85 pounds in 22 weeks, or just over 3 1/2 pounds per week.

Projecting out and figuring that the pounds will come off slower as I get closer to my goal, I figure I will be at goal in another 8 months, by my 1 year anniversary on March 24, 2007. Hopefully sooner...but I can certainly live with waiting those few more months to get there.

The time has really just flown by. Makes me wish I had started sooner, at the beginning of the year, but I know my head wasn't in the right place to begin then.

One of the mottos that keeps me focused around here, aside from Nancy's classic "Nothing tastes..." is one that says how "Whether you diet of not, time will continue to pass" < I'm paraphrasing here.> But it's helped alot when I've been discouraged over plateaus and blips. So whomever uses that in their signature, "Thanks" It's helped me stay on course.

Also thanks to Jo for her tip re. just recording the weight loss, and not the daily ups and downs. It also keeps me from getting discouraged. (Also Makes for a much smoother and easier to read graph!)

And lastly, but not leastly, thanks to all of you on this board for the support and caring, advice and occasional butt kicking. I've never felt quite as loved and forgiven while dieting, in my life. 99% of my success so far, I owe to you. You are all so awesome.

Hi Carmel, What an inspiration you are! Congratulations on making it to the 80# club. I will be hanging around with you, sticking to the plan until I reach my goal (projected to be June 2007). I love the "time will pass if I diet or not" (paraphrasing) quote. So true about everything we are trying to achieve in our lives.

Continued success to you!

Welcome to my "Pity Party"

Feeling a tad blue lately. Not my TOM (that ship left port 10 years ago!)
Just feeling sad that nobody up in Washington wanted to meet up while I was there on vacation. (Maybe it's my breath ???) <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_2_9.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D10%252F10_2_9/image.gif">

Plus I've been trying to get this cruise dealie together, but can't seem to light a fire under very many of those who said they wanted to go. <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/26/26_23_3.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D26%252F26_23_3/image.gif"> I'm afraid that ship is sinking fast.

And I'm trying to decide whether or not to jump to another company. Was all set to switch to "Company A" when the company I'm currently working for announced that they are suing "Company A"! The "Company A" CEO called me to assure me that there is absolutely no merit to the lawsuit and that it's really just a nuisance suit because all of the good people from my current company are jumping ship and signing up with "Company A".

But still, it gives me pause. I dunno, maybe I'm just being an old... <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_4_169.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D23%252F23_4_169/image.gif">

End of pity party.... I feel better just getting it all off my chest.
