Medifast - change of name?

Postby Elidh » October 18th, 2006, 6:39 am

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I'll put it here.

Many of my friends and family want to know how I lost weight. When I tell them "Medifast", they all think it is some kind of a fast I've been on. In fact, it wasn't until I was on the program for weeks that I figured out the name "Medifast" implied fast weight loss, not starvation fast.

I wonder how many people are put off by the name "Medifast" and never look into it. Maybe they should change the name to "Medislim" or something?

Pardon the rambling......

When Medifast was started, it was really a fast with just 5 shakes per day and no L&G. I do think that the original name meant what it sounds like. I agree, though. It's definately not a fast now, so it does confuse people who don't know about it.

I never thought about it as fasting. To me fasting is a totally different situation and a spiritual one. I assumed the same that the fast was meaning quick.
