 mavesse, just MHO here...like you said, you have not had success on slow loss programs. MF states 2-5lbs per week right? WW states 1-2lbs per week. On average, here at MF, the reality seems to be 1-3lbs per week with some weeks being more, some less. Compare that to WW 1-2lbs per week and although we get there a little faster with MF, and the plan is easier to stick to (IMO), the loose skin thing isnt an issue. Who's to say that you would have any more extra skin reaching goal with MF? There have been plenty on WW that have lost over 100lbs and i'm sure they have extra skin too. It all really depends on your hydration level and skin elasticity. Look at the Biggest Loser, they lose waaaaaayyy faster than we do. What do they do to control the lose skin? Exercise. I'm not saying go out and exercise like a race horse, i'm just saying that it might help. You have 90lbs to lose, who says you will have ANY lose skin? Oh yeah, its much easier to conceal the skin in clothes than to conceal the fat. So, say it with me: i know i am making excuses for myself out of fear, the fear of failure (again) or simply the fear of losing the weight. Now you have said it, admitted it and let it go. Get back on plan, one hour at a time. I hope your prayerful night was soothing to your mind/soul. I hope you wake up this morning at peace with the program, ready to jump back on ~hour by hour. Good luck girlie!

Of course you're right about the skin issue, Erica, and that whole topic is nothing more than a distraction. Extra skin won't interfere with me doing my job; it won't increase my blood pressure, or mess up my hormones...And maybe it won't even happen.

But I do struggle with the idea that I want to be a regular person on regular food...buy what's on sale at the grocery store and plan nice, small, normal meals. One of Medifast's greatest benefits is also a downfall for me, because as my cravings get under control I start to think maybe I can make it in the outside world. Maybe I can have a bowl of Cheerios for breakfast and go off and live a healthy day of tiny meals of whatever everyone else is having and be slim again, too...

I've got to come to terms with the fact that I wasn't able to do it over the course of the past three years, even though I tried very, very hard. It's time to try something else, and this is something that did work for me in the past.

Maybe after seven or eight months on Medifast or even a year, and possibly through the maintenance program, I will train myself to be my dream-version of Mavesse. Maybe that's the ticket; looking at this life of food from an envelope as a temporary means to an end, and enjoying it as a blessed relief from the obsession that got me into this mess in the first place.

Anyway, I should get something in me, because I've been awake, thinking for nearly two hours now, and I haven't even had a drink of water. That's just setting myself up for failure.

As one of my professor's in teachers' college used to say (several times a day), "Structure for success!"

Have a good day, friends. Thanks so much for stopping by ;)

Just checking in with my old self to say I have had two supplements and four glasses of water so far.

Am back on track!

Edited to add: Am reading the journal of alpha femme for inspiration. I love this lady.

Hi

Postby dede4wd » January 26th, 2008, 5:38 pm

I just LOVE Alex! I miss her posting regularly!

I'm so happy you jumped right back on track...WAY TO GO! I did that "I'll just have THIS and start again tomoorow" thing for over a month before I committed to just doing it (compliance). I didn't maintain the benefits of the appetite supression and general feeling good that being on program brings and kept saying to myself "you're doing it WRONG, do it right and it's easier", but it took me a while to get there.

It is so awesome that you didn't chuck it all and got right back on!!!!!!!!! WAY TO GO!

As far as the loose skin thing...I lost 90lbs and maintained it for close to a year with only a few stretch marks! I was THRILLED! I still use the skin-firming lotion. Age, skin elasticity and hydration were all very good to me, but even if I had some extra skin, the health benefits and LIFE I got back would have been a fair trade for a little extra skin!

BTW, way to go with the shirt NSV!

Check in later and let us know how you're doing!

You are doing so awesome.. it is really great that you are able to identify potential issues and sidestep them.

Keep it up.. and know that you can do it.. as we all know you can.

Mavesse,

I feel the same way about the skin issue. But my only thing I think about is I want to be thin. I thought about the WW program a few times this year, thinking maybe I will go back. But then I thought this program is so easy to do. You really do not have to think. Now do not get me wrong I think Maintnence is going to be very hard for me but I am going to deal with that issue when I get closer to it.

Your doing great.
