Hey guys, I leave and come back and find a place to vent. Well, here I go:

I have been off of MF for about 6 weeks now. I have been living at the hospital, either working or visiting my Mom. She had a massive MI about six weeks ago, went into cardiogenic shock and has been on extensive medications for her blood pressure, even had a balloon pump (for all you nurses out there). bilateral strokes, only thing that saved her is she has not gone into renal failure. She is still on the ventilator but did finally wake up last week. She is 77 years old as of monday (what a way to spend your b'day) and is still a very sick lady.

This is the first crisis of this sort that has happened in our little family and I want to tell all you nurses out there: It is definitely not the same when it is one of your own! It has been a roller coaster since day one, we have practically made funeral arrangements twice, seems like when we talk about things like that the little trooper gets better. She is definitely hanging in there. Wish us well and think of us in your prayers.

I will be back in full force one day soon, just too much to handle right now.

Love you all, Loribug

Good luck with everything Loribug! I have been in similar situations with my family members, and I understand how hard it is just to deal with that; nevermind trying to stay on a diet at the same time! Do what you need to do.. we will be here :)

Postby Loribug » January 5th, 2007, 6:41 am

end of day one, or beginning of day 2, working nights it gets confusing. Was not too bad, wanted food at 2 am, shake instead....oh well, just get used to it. every 3 hours no matter what hours we keep.

first weekend down, very hard at work. Thank god one of my weekend partners has decided she needs to watch her weight or she is going to blow up. Eating to stay awake ( working nights) So now she has decided to bring veggies and things to munch on instead of our usual doritos and M&M's (did you know the mega M&M's taste just like the little ones?)

Thanks DeDe

It has not been a good week, not following the program at all. Will have to try much harder. Not getting in the water. At least when I cheat I'm staying with no extra carbs. Not that that is an excuse but being on these darn steroids again, I am constantly ravenous. It is just awful. God give me strength to change the things that I can, and ....... how does the rest of that go? will have to look it up. lol

OH well, here we go, the beginning of another week and I shall be more compliant. JUST SAY NO!

Lori,
How many mg's of steroids are you on? If you're over 20 mg, MF doesn't suggest you use the programs for weight loss until you're under 20 mg of corticosteroids. You may want to use MF as extra nutrition until you're under 20. I know you're losing (yay), but I don't want you to be feeling miserable the whole time!

You might want to talk to your HA or the e-mail the TSFL nurse or speak to your doc about it! The hunger isn't your fault, it could be the medication.

Rooting for you!

only 10 a day dede, but I can tell when I take them and when I don't for sure, it's the difference between whether I can walk or not. I don't care what they say, I'd be disabled if there wasn't such a thing as steroids.

hungry or not.
