ok, I been sittin’ here trying to figure out how I can get myself to be a better poster to my own journal. Something that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately is how thankful I am of so many blessings in my life so I came up with the idea of “Thankful Thursdays”. I am going to attempt to log things that I’m most thankful for in my journal on Thursdays. At least this will insure that I log at least once a week. And I can openly acknowledge things that I’m thankful for that week. Since this is my first, the list may be longer…I will NOT be listing the obvious, like being thankful for God, my husband, family, etc…these will be other things (probably MF related), for example:

KIM’S THANKFUL THURSDAYS, WEEK ONE:

This week I’m thankful for:

• Rob (my work hubby) getting me hip to MF that has changed my life b/c I have never heard of it and had no idea about the power of it.
• Having the most awesome health advisor a girl could ask for (that would be Ms. Dede). This is not a put down to all the other great HAs out there…I just love mine and want the world to know that she’s the bomb.
• Finding a new wonderful forum friend in Sharon. She is exactly the kind of friend that makes this journey easier and she’s funny as all heck.
• Having to part with my most favorite work slacks cuz they’re too big :D and make me look all dumpy
• Making the 30# club! That was a big step that I really looked forward to from day 1! :D :D :D
• My oatmeal raisin bars arriving last nite. I only have one more choco mint and was stressing about what to do!
• The 3 free days on BART (the local train) in the past week. That saved me over $21 on my commute. (maybe I’ll use that money towards a pedicure!)
• My in-laws getting the keys to their new beautiful house right around the corner from me. It’s nice to have them close.
• My nephew being in town this week. I hadn’t seen him in forever and it was a nice surprise.
• Last but not least, I’m most thankful that I only have one more work day before a 2-day work week!!!

So there’s my first edition of Thankful Thursdays. Let’s hope I can keep it up.

oooo... what a great idea !! Thankful Thursdays !

I can't help myself from saying a few things about this. I have noticed that when I am actively seeking the things that are in my life that I can be grateful for, I feel more satisfied and fulfilled. The "void" that I might be tempted to try to fill with over-eating just isn't there when I am filling my consciousness and being with gratitude.

Thanks for the reminder,
Karli

of course you can use the idea Sharon. in fact, i encourage it. i was going to make it a new topic in the Come On In forum but decided to do it here in case others thought it was corny and so that it would get me to post in my own journal instead of just being all over the forum. anybody that likes the idea can use it and maybe one day it'll even be it's own topic. :)

ok, had to come back and make a note of my snack today!!! my oatmeal raisin bars came in yesterday (they were on back order) which is just in time cuz i only have one choco mint bar left  until my next order arrives today! :D

so i wanted to make a note of my snack and how to prepare it again cuz it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! so good i can't even stand it...

so what u gotta do is take an oatmeal raisin bar and put it on a plate, not a napkin, (remove from wrapper please) and microwave it for 8 seconds. you'll have to eat it with a fork but watch out cuz it is literally heaven on earth!!! all this time Dede has been sayin that the bar tastes like cinnabon and don't get me wrong it good, but cinnabonish? i don't think so....but if u heat it up and eat with a fork, it is totally CINNABON! lesson learned...don't question ur HAs :D

it's 11:33pm so it's the 11th hour of Thursday so i can get in one more thing that i'm thankful for...

**I'm so thankful to be on a plan that is as forgiving as MF. I was a lil less than compliant this week  but when i weighed in today, i was still down 3 lbs for the week! so that brings my grand total to 35.5 lbs! :D

what a great way to end my first Thankful Thursday. :D

Today is my 49th day on the plan. I still can’t believe that I’m still able to stick with it so well. Yeah, I have my lil slip ups here and there but nothing of the magnitude of a pre-MF slip up. For example, my slip up now is having 3-4 servings of soy crisps instead of one, or having 10 oz of salmon intead of 7 oz (hey, I LOVE salmon, what can I say?), or having 2 tablespoons of sugary honey Dijon salad dressing instead of the light stuff, or my most famous slip up, 2 sugar-free popsicles instead of one. All of these things are not compliant I know, but hey, it’s better than what I used to do (i.e. Cold Stone Creamery, Godiva Cheesecake, KFC honey BBQ wings, etc, etc, you get the point).

It’s finally Friday before a 4-day weekend! Yay!!! I’m soooo excited for the long weekend! Funny thing is that when I started the program back in May, I was very scared of the thought of getting through this weekend b/c it’s only one of the biggest BBQ weekends in the year. As the holiday is approaching, I’m not even worried. I’m not sure if I’ll even end up at a BBQ this weekend or not, but if I do, I’ll do just fine. The results that I’m getting are not even worth a day of gorging on all that stuff that is regularly at a BBQ. No sir, not worth it at all. I look at it this way, mankind has been BBQing since the beginning of time and they’ll still be BBQing in 6 months, next year, etc. Once I get to goal, if I feel I MUST have a taste, then I can do just that. I don’t miss it right now and I’m getting such great results, how can you beat that?!?!

This weekend I might try to get a lil adventurous and try to make some oatmeal cookies. I’m not feenin’ cookies just yet but I figured I’d try the recipe so that I’m ready when I get the urge. I also get to meet Sharon in person this weekend. Yay! I’m so excited for that. Well, that’s it for now, I’m sure something else will come up.

Another MF weekend and all is good in the Bay. Yesterday I had the treat of meeting up with Sharon and Tony (and their beautiful lil Desiree) for our L&G. We went to Outback and it was so much fun having people to talk about the plan with that totally can relate. Don’t get me wrong, I love my hubby to death but let’s face it, he was a pro athlete and just doesn’t totally understand the struggles of having to lose weight like this. When he gets “out of shape”, he can cut out a lil food and go the gym for 3 weeks and then is back in tip top shape.

First, can I just say how much I LOVE Sharon and Tony! They are such a cute lil couple and are so much fun. Their lil baby is such an adorable lil girl and she is so well behaved. Pretty soon I’ll be at goal and can have my own lil one. Til then, I’ll keep on pressin on. Sharon even brought gifts! She brought me two toe rings (I love toe rings!). One had a ring of hearts on it, the other a ring of elephants. She said it was in honor of my ticker. Wasn’t that just the cutest thing and so sweet of her? I need more frenz like that!

The funny thing is that I’m moving along on this plan and getting great results but today I was reflecting on how deep I’m getting into this. When I was first presented with MF, I was like “sure, I’ll do it but I’m only gonna commit to one month”. Well, here I am, almost 2 months later; meeting with folks from the forum, posting pics in the studio, putting together a ticker and avatar, and checking the forum this morning cuz I HAD to know what the July sale item was! Man, I’ve come a long way from just committing to just one month to making this my lifestyle. My hubby and I were talking last night about how great it will be for me to finally get preggars (one concern I had was getting preggars at my “before weight”). We are both excited and are so thankful for MF for making the dream a closer reality. Not only that, but it’s also fun getting into some my old clothes cuz I do have some cute smaller clothes.

The other thing that I’m loving (and I think the ladies can relate to this) is that as I lose weight, I can better wear my much more sassier shoes (i.e. heels & stilletos). This morning I wore a pair of heels to church that I haven’t been able to wear in forever b/c it was just too much pressure from all the weight pressing into my shoes. Another nice NSV, I love it!

Well, I’m gonna take all this energy that I’ve got and get some unpacking done in this house. It’s another beautiful MF day…keep on keepin’ on…
