I don't like losing only 1 lb after a week of being compliant. It just messes with your head. It's TOM for me, so I'm sure that's part of it, but it still stinks.
I'm scheduled to have an endometrial ablation on Nov. 30, which will hopefully erase heavy periods from being a regular part of my life. The doc said that 50% of people have no period and the other 50% have a 1-2 light period. I'd happily take either at this point. He also said some people have milder PMS, which I don't really understand, cuz it doesn't change anything hormonally. Makes me wonder tho, if it might also help with bloating/water retention.

Eating out is a challenge, I'm realizing. Early in the program, I found it to be a treat and something that I felt I could manage well. But I realized when I was travelling, that it was a huge trigger for me. I decided to do full fast on days that I couldn't or didn't have my L&G well under my own control, either by cooking it myself or being at a restaurant where I knew I could order well. That approach worked well for me this past week. Then last night, went to eat at Longhorn, which I thought would be fine. I got a small filet and steamed veggies. Everything was way too salty and tasted buttery/oily even tho I requested no extra. Duh... just as I'm writing, I'm realizing that meal right before weigh in probably didn't help me one bit. Live & learn.

Sounds like you figured it out yourself, Kendra. Even if there wasn't extra fat added, the salt alone will cause you to weigh a little higher than you would normally - sometimes several pounds' worth!

The good news is it's temporary and it'll be gone in a couple of days.

I'm feeling so good about myself and the plan and just love it when the planets and stars are aligned like this!

I did well on Halloween, woke up reciting my commitment to have no candy at all. There was a party at work with a chocolate fountain and lots of other good food and I touched not a bit of it and didn't even really feel deprived. Then at home, I'd bought candy that I didn't like to lessen the temptation. It was all good til Ben came home from Trick or Treating with his bag of loot. I succombed to one mini hersheys Krackel bar. I bit into it... as soon as I started to taste it, I realized it was stale! I was like... OMG... this is totally not worth it, so I spit it out. Goofy, but it ticked me off at the world of candy and stopped the binge!

I've adopted a rule to live by about L&Gs, as a result of my weeks of struggling with eating out. My rule is if I can't totally control the making of my L&G, either by cooking it myself or completely knowing that I can order it to my specifications, I will do the total fast that day. I think it's working for me... I was definitely in ketosisland all week.

I've now lost a little over 10% of my body weight, which seems to be the point that people start to notice, at least when you start out very heavy. So I've had a couple of sweet NSVs this week of people noticing... very nice. :)

I also started with the 100 days of weight loss book by Linda Spangle, thanks to my dear friend Elizabeth, and that has helped me stay focused. It's a great book.

You're doing great, and I'm glad you found something that works for you. We all have our own struggles within the program, and each of us just needs to figure out what we need to do to make it work.

Good job!!!

Way to stick with it Kendra -- you had a great weight loss this week too!! WHat do you do on the fasting days? Do you eat extra packets that day?

The "complete fast" is six Medifast meals a day with no lean and green meal. It's supposed to be done only under a doctor's supervision, although some people will do it for a day or two here and there.

Yep, what she said. ;)

I don't do it often, an average of about once a week I'd say.

I made a bad dinner choice tonight... in a rush, with kids, stressful couple of hours.. and boom... badchoiceland. But it's done and I'm not gonna stew about it. My current challenge is that I want some homemade choc chip cookies so badly I can hardly stand it. I'm trying to just ride it out.
Crazy thing tho is, I worked out tonight, with the kids. We had a great time and I got a decent workout. Seems a little crazy that I'm wanting to binge at this moment... tho most probably is because I didn't have a nutrient filled dinner.
So instead of baking those cookies, I'm here at the computer with a MF bar. I may have a pudding in a while if I'm still wanting something. That would be better than some other option.
My house is totally torn up, am having some remodelling done in the kitchen/dining room and painting & new flooring in the kitchen, dining room, living room. It's rather stressful, I'm finding.

If you ate extra carbs at dinner, you're likely to crave sweets later on. And if you worked out, you're probably also looking for some extra calories. Hang in there!

Your doing great. You can do it and get past your craving. Keep busy, drink your water and the bars do help alot. I missed when you hit the 30 lbs club but see your 1/2 way to 40 already. How wonderful is that!! Keep motivated and hang in there.

Thanks Robin & Loriann,

I made it thru the night without succumbing to the cookies. Just stubborn determination, nothing else.
As people here have said, every challenge is a learning process. So last night I learned that I need to plan better when I'm going to work out with the kids early in the evening.

This morning, my older son that has Down syndrome says to me... 'Mom, tonight we need some not fattening food and some vegetables, can we please eat at home?' Which we haven't done in 2-3 days cuz my kitchen is totally torn up. I was sooo happy tho that he said that.... made me feel like I've been being a good role model!
