Hi people :)

Things are.. going.
This winter really kicked my ass mood-wise, but now that Spring is starting to show a tiny bit, I am much happier.

For MF.. I had a rocky month, mostly eating too little and having tastes of this and that. I am still having a hard time getting in all my meals. I am just not hungry! I enjoy the MF foods ok (all I ever eat is RTD, soup, bar, soupx3), but I just don't seem to want to have an L&G most days, and when I do, if it's anything heavier than cottage cheese and cucumbers and romaine or radicchio, I feel really sick, and 9/10 I have a killer headache in the night - next morning.

I had a bad stall, but I think(hope) it is passed.. I will hit 40# club at the end of the week, I am sure of it.

I am exercising too much, I get on the bike, flip on the tv, and just zone out. If I don't bike a good 20+ minutes per day then 1. I feel shit about myself, and 2. I don't sleep as well or have as much energy the next day. Today I did 400 calories - in 2 sessions: 150 + 250. Not really sure what to think about that.

I am so looking forward to joining a gym to start doing a weight lifting circuit or nautilus circuit. I am too embarassed to go now at the weight I am though.

Anyways, things in general are looking up, even if the scale isn't dropping as fast as I would have liked. I am trying to take joy from the small little things that are changing for me (i.e. being able to get out of a chair without having to 'hoist' myself by using my arms..), and continuing to keep my eye on my goals. :)

btw.. tomorrow (15th April) will mark my 100th straight day on MF. Not completely 100% compliant, more like 92%, but regardless, it is something I am proud of.

Hey, Kelly - happy 100 day anniversary!

So, I am curious why you think that you're exercising too much? I don't think 20+ minutes or 400 calories burned is excessive. The only problem with it is that you mentioned you aren't always getting all your meals in...

If you are not eating at least the minimum for MF plan, then yes, the exercise is problematic, but otherwise you've been on plan long enough to sustain moderate exercise.

Am I missing some part of the equation? Most people here can tell you that I am a BIG advocate for the role that exercise can and does play in this weight loss process - it's benefits going way beyond just helping you to lose weight, so if there's anything you need to help make some decisions in your day/week food and exercise plan, I will certainly give my "non-expert" advice!

Cheers,

Lauren

Hi Lauren =)

Thanks for your input..
Maybe I am worrying for nothing.. somehow I was concerned that I would be hurting myself if I was burning over half of my daily intake of calories (or indeed, my full days intake of calories, 660 cals isn't unreachable for me on the bike, I am sure).

If I am not doing over 350cals on the bike every day, I am not happy with myself. Usually I do more....I'll just be watching tv and I'll think to myself.. hey, I could knock out 150 cals on the bike, np.. then I get up and do 200.

I am going to start using the weights I bought for Jeremy for Hanukkah that he never uses, to get a head start on toning so it'll show some when my arms have slimmed down... and I want to add in daily crunches and side crunches too, starting slow but I want to build up to 200 crunches a day + 200 each left and right side crunches.

I want so badly to be in decent shape by late fall, there is a women's basketball league that starts up in October that I would LOVE to join.. though I am probably being unrealistic about that, as I am still a size 24 now..

Hey Kelly,

You are doing fabulous. Heed Lauren's advice... make sure you get in the meals (we can't stress that enough). Especially when you are exercising at the amount that you are.
We tend to go back to our original ideas about "dieting" sometimes and want to just eat less and think the weight will come off. Doesn't work that way... we have to eat to lose.

Keep doing what you know will work, and it will work. You know what ya gotta do... and just don't think so hard about it. ;)

you are doing fabulous, just keep it up, and here comes the 40# club.

I hit 40# club like on Tuesday or so, to be honest, I am trying not to stress out about the weight loss thing anymore. I tend to get very frustrated when things go too slowly, and I'm afraid I will end up rationalizing away bites of this or that because the weight is coming off so slowly anyways.

Passover this week, so I was having cream brocc instead of chix noodle for most of the week.. can't say I minded so much. But, 1st and 2nd night of Passover were a bust for me as far as the diet goes.. I just didn't bother trying to stay OP, it wasn't possible anyways, since we had to have matzah and some other stuff (namely a date puree) as part of the prayers. I decided not to beat myself up over it. In the end, it didn't seem to affect the scale anyways.

Got a new bike, as the pedal was broken on my old one, and I actually managed to knock out an hours worth of pedaling today.. quite proud of myself.

Jer and I are going to Mexico on the 9th of May.. going to bust my ass to hit 50# club by then, but I am not sure if it can be done. Regardless, excited about the trip, I have only seen Mexico once (Tijuana), and it was only for a couple of hours. I have never seen the Pacific ocean in my life, so I am hugely looking forward to that. Decided I won't keep OP on the trip, for a few reasons.. Jer and I have never been on a "real" vacation.. I have never been to an all-inclusive before.. and I don't want to lug 40+ packets with me to Mexico.

Maybe this is stupid, but at this point, I can't seem to care. We will be so active for the week, and plus, I never want to eat at the beach - it totally zaps my appetite, and I don't like to drink much of anything but water. So I am ok with my decision to be off plan, even if it means adding another month to the time it will take me to get to goal, I don't care.

Congrats on the 40# club (changed it for ya). Have a great vacation... and remember, you can maintain on vacations... just have small lean and greens (if you want to). ;)

You are doing fabulous.

Mexico was fantastic.. we SO needed this vacation!

But.. I didn't stay even remotely on plan, didn't follow maintenance, nothing. I ate with Jeremy, 3 times a day, and had whatever, but stopped eating when I wasn't hungry anymore instead of the old me who would have ate until I was full. I had a few drinks in the week.. we went to a tequila farm and had a tasting, and I had maybe 2 drinks the rest of the week. I'm not much of a drinker anyways, so it wasn't difficult to stick to ice water.

Jeremy and I were very active the whole week, hiking in the mountains, swimming, and walking alot.. including a 1km walk every night after supper on the beach to watch the sunset (stunning! I have never seen the sunset over the beach before, I'm an east coast girl, lol)..

I wasn't going to step on the scale for a few days to let my body adjust after the flight, but I couldn't wait, lol.. I weighed when I got home last night.

I lost 3 lbs.

So I am happy with my decision to go off plan. It made for a stress free vacation. And even though I still have alot more to lose, I realized how much I have matured in my food thinking over the past 4 months. I was able to make moderate food choices and still lose weight.

As much as I enjoyed vacation though, I was definitely ready to get back home, and I am ready to get back on MF too. I actually miss some of the MF foods.

Interesting how that happens sometimes eh Kelly? Glad you had a great trip, and congrats on the 3 lbs.
