Just got my box...ready to rock!!!

Postby JazzyFatNasty » January 18th, 2006, 6:25 pm

Hey folks,

I am new to the Medifast family. Just got the Medifast 980 kit today. I plan on starting tomorrow. So, if you have any encouraging words, lay them on me!!! :D

If you're wondering why I did the Medifast 980 11 day intro package first, I wanted to test Medifast out to see how my body would respond to it. I am a pseudo-athlete, so sometimes I end up on the business-end of a weightlifing platform. Let's just say that I am tired of using my belly as torque for my cleans and snatches LOL!!!

It is still hard for me to believe that something this simple has been so effective for so many people-why hasn't everyone joined in the fun? Well, I am here to see for myself.

I'm, psyched, pumped and ready to shake!!! Let make it happen, baby!!!

Shake it on down!!!

Hi Jazzy, welcome to the forum. The Medifast products take a few days to get used to, but after the sugar is out of your system, they're quite tastey!

Me To!

Postby LovenElvis » January 18th, 2006, 7:24 pm

I start tomorrow as well! :?

My husband was laughing about how much I kept pulling out of the box. I ordered the 4 week variety pack (5th week free) and there is a lot in there!

He did make one comit about how long we'll see this one will last me. :x But you know he is right, I have been through them ALL! He is very encouraging with everything I do, but he gets discouraged because I do.

We can see how far we both go on this!

Those poor husbands sure have it rough, don't they?

We are always asking if our bum looks too fat in our jeans, we complain about our muffin tops, we want candy for Valentine's Day, we scream in our closets at the top of our lungs: NOTHING FITS!!!! I wanna go to the Fat Farm! Then the next minute we don't wanna cook and hint around hoping he'll take us out for a romantic supper and then the next day, we crab and moan that our muumuu doesn’t fit! They can't win!

I know just how you feel because I was always asking my husband if I could take another go around at Jenny's or if I could visit the doc with the pills (not covered by our Medical Plan!) or if we could buy a truckload of cabbage...bless his heart, he wanted me to be successful, too but he was getting tapped out because of all the $ we spent and no long-lasting results.

This time, we did it together and that was a winning combination. We both ate the same thing and could really commiserate with one another but that was before we started the MakeMeThinner Forum to provide the opportunity for support and interaction - we are a great community of losers and we can really help one another through the process.

Pretty cool, huh?

Hubby might secretly like you chubby ;)

Postby JazzyFatNasty » January 19th, 2006, 9:07 am

Hey Ladies,

Thinner is definitely healthier and the best place to be. But I am willing to bet that hubby doesn't mind a few pounds on you. Heck, he might even be putting syrup in your shakes while you're not looking :devious: :devious: :devious: :devious:

It reminds me of a Malcolm in the Middle Episode where the father was padding the mother's food with extra calories in order to continue enjoying her newly expanded posterior (she was trying to lose her post-pregnancy weight) :D

Contrary to what the mainstream media portrays, alot of men enjoy being with "women of stature". I, for one, can not remember when I wasn't attracted to a robust woman. And when I hit my goal weight, I will continue to date women of enhanced presence.

As you can tell, I don't like using terms like big girls, fat women, etc. They just aren't creative enough for me (as well as too demeaning for me to use) :D

So what's my point? Don't wait until you lose the weight, find your happiness now. Losing weight doesn't insure you will be happy. There are plenty of skinny. miserable people. Likewise, being large isn't an invitation for unhappiness. At this peak weight, I am as confident and cocky as I ever was. Even if I went down to 0% body fat, I would still weight 251 punds. Even at a healthy body fat range, I would still be around 270-ish. Should I be depressed about never being able to wear an extra large t-shirt? Heck no!!! I go out, I socialize, I date (probably a bit too much :? )...I do life!

Be clear about why you are losing the weight, whatever the reason may be. I am losing weight to improve my health. Of course it will enhance other things in my life. I am no specialist in these matters, I know at least for myself that my weight gain is related to things other than hunger. Until I attack these things, I will always be looking for comfort from and a solution for my food over-consumption problem.

 One must have a reasonable and attainable goal and sometimes our reasons may not always be 'reasonable' to another. When we buy into our own reason and go flat-out for it, we are very likely to reach it.

Glad to have you aboard.

Yep, skinny does not = happiness.

Hey Jazzy! Welcome!! :hi5:

So true So true!!! I am on day four and am realizing how much I turn to food to "deal" with my emotions. :tears:  :roflmao: :brickwall:

Thankfully, this time, I am determined to FEEL what I feel and deal with it rather than trying to stuff it with food! This formum is a WONDERFUL place to express what you're dealing with. Everyone here is SO supportive and encouraging...and there is A LOT of GREAT advice out there!!!

So again, WELCOME! We're glad you're here!

Agree

Postby LovenElvis » January 19th, 2006, 10:31 am

Jazz, I have to agree, I don't like to call people 'Fat', 'large' or anything like that.

I used to tell everything that "I'm not fat, I'm beautifully enhanced!".

My husband is sweet and he care very much. He doesn't mind that I'm heavier, he just wants me to be healthy and happy. Get out and do things with my children and not hide behind the camera all the time or cry when I actually see myself on film. I received my package yesterday and he is eyeing the fruit bars :) I told him that I would share, but very very few

Decided to postpone my start :(

Postby JazzyFatNasty » January 20th, 2006, 8:26 am

Okay Shakers,

I know some of you will be disappointed but...:?

I have decided to wait until Sunday to start my shaking. I just happened to catch the Sunday morning weigh-in section of the forum. I think that's a great motivational tool!!! I am going to start this Sunday with a post of my current weight via my trusty (rusty) bathroom scale :)

As for this weekend, I am going to party!!! Celebrate life and life changes. Don't worry, eating will not be on the top of the list-I have a date tonight! I know what you're thinking...dinner! But I am learning to plan dates that aren't food-centric. We're going to a comedy show and afterwards we're going to make a music video-go figure!!! I feel like dancing, so I am going out tomorrow night :dancinguy:

Sunday morning, I am going to get in one last BootCamp at the gym before I start Medifasting. Also, I need to pickup some lean meats and green veggies too. I think I am going to ask the butcher to cut my meat into 7oz portions (I usually eat poultry and fish, not much red meat). I'm a bit clumsy...let's just say I don't mix well with knives

So contestants, I'll see you at the weigh in :D

Hey Jazzy! No disappointment here! Everyone is encouraged to begin when it's most convenient. The first three days can be pretty tough, so it's wise to wait until a less social time to begin :D

On an happy note....that 7oz of chicken, fish, turkey is COOKED...not 7oz precooked! So...add an ounce or two to the request for the butcher :)

The journey begins with the first step :)

Postby JazzyFatNasty » January 23rd, 2006, 8:56 am

MOnday Morning, New York City!!!

It's cold and rainy...dreary. All I could think about was getting my warm coffee syrup (coffee syrup is cooffee with large amounts of sugar and cream) and donut from my buddy at the stand outside my job. However, by the time I arrived at work, I had already consumed a shake (5:30am) and a bar (7:30am). I was already well into my Medifasting. On this rainy morning, my buddy-with whom I had spent so many mornings exchanging $2.25 for another hit of carb-high, got nothing from me but a nod and a hello...

Day One has begun!!! :?

Three things, Yes or No

1) Coffee with skim milk/non-fat creamer and sugar substitute?
2) Tea with the same?
3) Chwing Gum, Sugar Free

Hey, Jazzy!

Good for you to give a nod and a nodda to the donut dude!

Let me answer your questions:

1.) Coffee with Splenda (or whatever sugar free sweetener you prefer) and skim milk or a small amount of Half and Half is Okie Dokie. I use the Fat Free Half and Half. The FF 1/2 & 1/2 DOES contain some corn syrup (carbs) but the it is a small amount and 2 Tablespoons of the creamy goodness has 20 calories...use a small amount and you'll be fine.

2.) Yes, tea with a non-sugar sweetener and a small amount of skim milk or 1/2 & 1/2 is fine-er-oo.

3.) Chewing Gum and mints...caution: most contain Sorbitol which may cause GAS...if you don't want to be known as "Toots LaRue" in your office, avoid them. Sugar-free gum and mints can also stimulate your appetite, increase gastric juices and make your stomach growl more. Drink plenty of water, brush your teeth and your tongue. Men who have a lot of weight to lose tend to deal with that feeling of "furry tongue and dry mouth" more than women do so be sure to drink a swimming poolful of water and that will help you.

Dear Git er Done ~

1.) Yep, continue with your daily multiple Vitamin. All the packets are indeedy do filled with the 24 essential vitamins and minerals but if you are accustomed to a daily, continue it.

2.) Exercising is an important component to life-long weight management.

It is not recommended that you begin exercising until the 4th week. If you USUALLY exercise, then cut your current program in half and gradually rebuild. It takes about three weeks for our body to become adjusted to using the stored energy (our flab) for its source and after a short while it becomes more proficient at doing so.

The Medifast Weight Loss Phase does not provide the necessary calories for a full-blown intensive weight program. Our products are nutritionally balanced and when a person follows the 5 and 1 Program carefully -with the proper Lean and Green meal, the program is muscle-sparing and we lose our stored fat.

The weight loss phase provides enough fuel for moderate workouts but certainly not enough for intense activity. If you push beyond the limits here, you risk injury and or possible health problems. Our body will require even more water during exercise - our muscles really need the water delivery. Medifast is somewhat dehydrating, Jazzy and exercise can truly suck up even more water - you will definitely need to cut back on your routine. It is doubtful that you will be able to lift weights anything like before.

We have to choose here what is best for you - safe and rapid weight loss now, with moderate exercise to keep muscles toned and improve the sense of well-being or a different meal plan with a greater caloric intake and more intense workouts.

The important thing is to be consistent and moderate.
