How much water do YOU need to drink?

Postby Crystal » December 6th, 2004, 2:42 pm

I am just wondering... I know that the recommendation is 64 oz. I have noticed that if my water consumption falls under 100 oz each day, my weight loss slows down to a near standstill. I seem to lose the most when I get approx. 130 oz. Has anyone else experienced this? This is a relatively small adjustment to make for an increase in lost poundage, so I'm not complaining, just curious.

I believe the recommendation is 64oz, but frankly my body settled into needing between 100-125oz a day. That's just what I naturally reach for - my body is telling me I need it - so I make sure I give it to myself.

I'd say your body's telling you 100oz is where you need to be. Stick with what works, and resign yourself to the gazillion potty breaks, LOL.

I agree and think 64 oz is the bare minimum. I typically drink 120-140 oz during the week but get in only 64 oz on the weekends. I feel better and lost faster during the week.

Same here - I'm drinking well over 100oz a day. Usually around 120oz.

My daily goal is to drink at least 100oz. Since I started MF, I've been able to do that almost every day, and on those days I haven't been able to, I make SURE I drink at least 64 oz.

Mary,

Took me a minute but I figured out Vicky's and smoking the credit card. Cute. Just wanted to say that MF is the awesome element not me. Just goes to prove that not cheating is the speediest route to goal. Thanks for your compliment!

Thanks everyone. I was just a little curious how many others found they needed to drink that much water. I have 4 34oz bottles I drink during the day, and it is getting much easier to get them all in every day. In fact, yesterday, I even wanted more before I went to bed!

I have found that keeping a few bottles (34 oz) in the van helps. In the busyness of trying to get 4 kids ready to go somewhere, and get them and their stuff in the van, I would forget my water; and because most outings end up taking us most of the day, I would not get to drink more than 64 oz, and that just does not work for me.

I keep a gallon jug of spring water next to me and just chug out of it. Sometimes I get sophisticated and pour it into a glass (when company's about). I generally drink one a day. This was something that goes back way before MF, actually. I tend to drink only bottled water. Part of the reason I drank out of the bottle was so that my late cats couldn't poke their little paws into my water. Seems they liked bottled water too and if I poured it into a glass, they would try to snitch it when I wasn't looking! :puma:

My reward to myself for the first ten pounds was to buy myself a beautiful chrystal water goblet to keep on my desk at work. I drink all the mandatory 64oz of water from that each day. ( I know it tastes better in that glass!). I am a home health nurse and am in the car alot---so I also keep bottled water there. I end up drinking easily over 100oz/day. I now miss it if I don't drink it. Not bad for someone whose water intake used to be only what was accidentally swallowed whilst brushing her teeth!
