Here I am - day 1 of my new life. I am calling this a journey because I am sure it will be. I didn't balloon overnight so I realize I won't shrink overnight either. I chose Medifast because it seemed sensible and faster than most plans. I also like that the decisions are easy during the weight loss phase.

I need to explore a little and figure out where to create a sig and how to insert my ticker but I took today and Monday off to give myself a good start so I have a 4 day weekend! Yay!  :D

I started out with an orange shake this morning because I have read some really bad reviews of that flavor. Since I got the assortment I have a whole box of them. I made it with 1/2 water and 1/2 Diet SunKist Orange soda. It was okay :| but not as horrible as I expected. I am a "save the best for last" kind of gal and like to get the yuck finished first.

Here is my plan for meals today (and feedback/advice is welcome):
#1 shake
#2 capuccino or chai
#3 soup or shake
#4 bar
#5 L&G
#6 pudding or oatmeal

Darn! I just realized I forgot to take the Lactaid with my shake. :x Guess I will be half-steppin' to the bathroom later.

I not only weighed this morning, I measured and that was even more depressing than the scale! I knew my waist was non-existent these days but did not realize how many inches non-existent!

I am ready! Because I had to delay my start date until my grandkids were gone I have had plenty of time to read this forum, the support in motion forum and all the MF lit including the QuickStart Guide.

Since I haven't done my sig or ticker yet but need to be honest with myself and you all, here are my dismal starting stats.

I like HOPE! Sounds so optimistic...
Your meal plan looks like mine did, except I always started the day with oatmeal, and loved it.
Still start my day with oatmeal after almost one year on maintenance.
Your stats look fairly typical also...great height...I could use a couple of those inches myself.
You'll do fine if you jump in with all your might and compliance and just do it!
Congratulations on the great start!

Thanks for the welcomes ladies! And Lizabette, thanks for the encouragement! I won't give you any of my height (I used to be 5'6-3/4") but I wish I could donate some of my chest!

I may try the oatmeal next meal and if I like it okay, use it as first meal tomorrow. I need to try out all the different types this weekend so I can figure out what is easiest to take to work with me next week.

Feeling good!

 Hi Linda and welcome!

It sounds like you have a great attitude and a game plan in place. I too started the plan when I had a few days off. It really helped to focus my attention on MF. As a matter of fact the first two weeks I stayed pretty close to home to avoid familiar sights, sounds and smells that made me think of eating.

I could really read the excitement in your post. For a lot of people that high will help carry them through the first three days, but if you start feeling weak definitely come back to the forum for inspiration. There are so many wonderful people here just waiting to cheer you on!

Good luck on your journey! I look forward to watching your progress!

Welcome Linda! I am 1 inch taller than you are and was 12# heavier when I began MF back in February. You are going to be so thrilled to watch the scale numbers shrink and your waist reappear (I was, :) ).

Hi Linda,

Welcome

Good idea to give yourself a long weekend to get started. You'll be happy you took those measurements. Makes it more fun to be able to measure the shrinkage. :D Before you know it your clothes will be too big!
Reached Goal Nov 2007 61.5 lbs lost
Gained 11 lbs in Mexico 3/08, decided to lose that along with another 5 lbs!

Thanks Tracy, Tawanda and Mickey! It has been good so far today. I am going to be having my second meal soon and then I need to do some errands. I am getting kind of hungry now but it has been 2 hours and 20 minutes since I drank my shake. I want to wait at least 2-1/2 hours between MF meals today and hopefully 3 hours after my L&G.

I tried to do an avatar and put a ticker in my sig but I got a lot of access denied type errors. Do I have to send the files to Unca Tim? Are we not allowed to add files?

Thanks!

Hmmm... well the ticker seems to be okay but the avatar is not. It took a while to size the pic down small enough but I couldn't get it to the exact size required so maybe that is the problem. I guess I will try to contact Unca Tim.

Unca Tim is the only one who can do avatars.

DOH!

Thanks Biki! I just sent him a pic so hopefully it will be there later. I was tempted to use an old flattering pic but decided using a current fat pic might give me motivation to change every time I see it! LOL

I always use a current one. Keeps me accountable and it feels more honest. I just sent him a newer one myself a few minutes ago.

Yes! I see your pretty pic and my icky one! My girls and I went to Vegas for my birthday this year (cinco de mayo) and when they took that pic I was hung over, worn out and bloated from Margaritas.

I have had a lot of the same issues as you so I have been reading what you write a lot. You are inspiring!

Wow! I wrote a long, soul-baring post and it just poofed! I got some message about preventing spamming and to hit back but when I did my post was gone!

Oh well. Maybe no one wanted to read all that anyway. Gotta run my errands now while I am fueled up!
