HIVES, a week break from Medifast

Postby alohacate » October 23rd, 2006, 3:20 pm

Oh my gosh people, what a scare. I broke out with hives - over my entire body. Had to stop Medifast, all meds for five days. Turns out I am allergic to my next door neighbors Mango Tree which I had trimmed back from my property.......oops   . No major weight gain to report - back on the program!!!!!!!!

Mango's......Yummmm....my favorite! Your "mango tree" story reminded me of when I lived in Puerto Rico as a teenager, instead of candy, my friends and I would climb the mango trees on our way home frome school and shake the mangos off them and eat them up or we would chop sugar cane down and suck on the sugar cane. Yum yum! I'm glad I'm not allergic to mango because it's my favorite fruit. Glad to hear you are o.k. and doing well Cate!

Oh man! Those were THE days. Reminds me of my childhood in South America. Kids whose yards didnt have trees would come to my yard with a bamboo pole with a coat hanger attached at the end and the hanger would hook the stalk of the mango. I'd run outside and yell and they would run and I would run after them but of course get winded and we'd collapse laughing. Ahhhhh the fun we had.

Cate,

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Also glad hives came AFTER you met Roger.

Cate!! I'm soooo glad that you are feeling better and are over the nastiness that is HIVES!! If you've read my journal, you know that I speak from experience! I somehow endured something like eight weeks of the vile things. Total misery. My allergen was flaxseed oil capsules, but once we figured it out, they finally went away. I was so relieved to learn that they were not MF-induced, and could return to the program. I'm glad for you too! Oooh, I'm itching just thinking about it!! <flashbacks>

P.S. Nat--I totally LOVE your avatar! You are smoooookin', girl!!
