Hidden Carbs

Postby Arklahoma » October 5th, 2006, 5:29 am

Image Advil has carbs ...

Each 200mg tablet has 0.23 carbs ~ a small amt., I know; however, during TOM my doc lets me take more than the recommended allowance. I've probably had at least 10 tabs today ~ ARGHHH!!! Still not a significant amount unless you're having powedered splenda, as well. Hidden carbs are lurking everywhere!!!

Ark,
If you need the Advil during TOM then you need it. I know...I get severe cramps. During TOM I need to take it too. It's the only thing that works for me. I don't take 10 in 1 day, but I do take it. I wouldn't worry about it. Even Splenda has less than 1 carb per packet. Just don't use as much Splenda when you're taking that much Advil if you're worried about it or use the M.F. products that have lower carb content during that time. Just balance your carbs. That is alot of Advil though, I'd be more concerned with my liver! ( just a little R.N. humor...from one R.N. to another :D )

Trust me, my doc and I have had many, many conversations.

Ark,
I don't doubt that in the least. Good luck with your continued weight lost journey! Can't wait until I reach Onederland also! :D

Alternative to Advil

Postby BrownIdGirl » October 15th, 2006, 9:57 am

I use Naproxin Sodium (Alieve) instead of advil. I don't know if the carb count is lower, but it doesn't have the sugary taste that advil has. Plus I take less and it works better!

I don't see the Naproxen on the list, but I just discovered my calcium supplement (Os-Cal) has carbs, as well. Anything under 0.5g carb can claim sugar free so I don't know how much for certain, but I have an email in to the mfg to see if they'll disclose it.
