Hello everyone! Newbie here

Postby Memory » June 28th, 2007, 10:21 am

Hey everyone, I am excited to announce that this morning I started Medifast. I am 21, and up until autumn of last year I never had a weight problem. Growing up my parents were health freaks, so I always had a healthy diet, that has stayed with me until this day...but then around September something happened. I discovered Silk Very Vanilla soy milk...and fell in love. I've always said that I would rather eat my calories, so I always stuck with water or green tea, then when I got addicted to soy milk...my weight ballooned up quickly. I didn't realize exactly how much I gained, I buy new clothes all the time, and it didn't seem like much of a deal when I would have to buy a bigger size pant, except when I realized the size just kept getting bigger and bigger. Then a few weeks ago I looked at some pictures from a recent family reunion, and was shocked to see how big I've gotten. So I decided to do something about it.

I have heard of medifast, and so I did some research, and decided I would rather do a very low calorie diet, and lose quickly instead of taking 2 or 3 times as long to lose the weight. Yet a part of me was still unsure...then I came across this site, and you all have been such an inspiration. I mean wow! I've never felt actually addicted to food, but I definately was to soy milk, and I can understand how hard it is to break an addiction. And reading all your stories was just amazing. I actually cried tears of joy when I read about all your weight loss victories, and I knew without a doubt that I wanted to be a part of the Medifast family.

I'm not sure how much I have to lose, I weight myself a few weeks ago and I was at 189, but that was fully clothed and with shoes. So assuming I haven't gained anymore since then  I'm guessing I weight around 185. So I would have to lose 50 pounds to get back to my old weight. I am posting some starting pics, and I cannot wait until the day I can post my ending ones!

So far today I am feeling great. Normally I come home from class everyday (massage therapy, which I'm hoping to be back down to my original size by graduation in December 8) )I'm starving, but I just got back and I don't feel hungry at all:) Hopefully I'll make it through the rest of the tough first 3 days this easily.

Thank you all so much for the inspiration to start the program!

Congrats and you don't look like you have too far to go and if you stick to the regime you will drop 50 before december I'm sure, I too and in my early 20's and I ballooned up due to ~*being in love*~ I gained 121lbs over a 6 year period and I'm taking charge and losing the weight! I too was also skeptical about MF but once I got in the groove and got going what a relief, I suggest keeping a journal and if you go to the My Journal section and the Studio section look for a user by the name of Bikipatra she will truly be even more of an inspiration than you will believe you have ever seen! Well good luck and feel free to PM me any time and I will also PM you my email so you have instant access to me while I'm at work also! I wish you the best and Welcome Home! :cleader:

Welcome to the group! 50# by December is very doable. Just stick to the program and then remember it is also important to do the transition and maintenance parts of the program.

Hey everyone, thank you all for being so nice:) Well I made it through my first day, and I haven't been hungry at all. I am very surprised, but I feel satisified. Instead of doing the lean and green meal I replaced it with another supplement. So far everything has been pretty tasty, except for the cream of broccoli soup, but I'm just not a soup person. It came in the one free week package, so I decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed the dutch chocolate shake, and the chocolate pudding. Well it's getting close to bedtime, but I will update on how things go tomorrow. Good night everyone!

Happy Saturday morning everyone! I just wanted to update and say that everything is still going great. Last night I warmed up some leftover pasta for my boyfriend, and I'll admit I was mildly tempted. I do love my pasta, but I stood strong. :D
I feel like I have more energy. I have to say this is much easier to stick to than I thought it would be.
I hope you all have a great weekend!

Hi Memory,
Welcome to Medifast and the Forums.

You are off to a great start!! I think it's great that you are taking control at a young age.

We also are very healthy, all natura/ organic eaters here, but you can still eat too much of a good thing....as I'm sure you will agree.. ;)

Have a great weekend. :D
God Bless,
Laura

Sounds Like you have a very attainable goal! It helps to break your weight loss down into 10# increments it goes much faster icon_smile.gif Like 10 pounds every 3-4 weeks Then every time you lose another ten it will be like reaching your goal all over again
