Guidance on lean and green meal

Postby Lissakay » January 24th, 2005, 2:56 pm

Can some of you on the 5 and 1 plan share what you have for your lean and green meal?

I wish I had the money for the medical supervision because it is hard to just eat that, I almost wish I didn't have to think about food at all!

Thanks by the way for all of your support on this journey.

Melissa

Hi Melissa,

This is my 14th day on MF, and I have been on the 5/1 the whole time. I have only had 3 different lean items so far (pork, chicken, fish). My green items are either 2 cups of lettuce with dressing, 2 cups of fresh spinach with dressing or I have had cooked spinach, green beans and asparagus as my "green".

I haven't been too inventive as of yet. I've used horseradish, salsa, steak sauce, or bbq sauce on my meat, and have used vinegar on my veggies. The meat I season with garlic and cavenders greek seasoning. You can use pretty much any seasoning you want, I have used a little soy sauce and worstershire sauce when cooking also. I either broil or cook my meat on the stove in fry pan with Pam spray. I'm not bored with it yet, so that is why I probably haven't tried to mix it up too much yet. I figure the more I get going on it, the more inventive I will get. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the ideas! I ordered the Medifast dressing and will give that a try for the first time tomorrow. :)

I really like to grill my vegatables. It gives them a nuttier flavor. I grill zuchini, squash (yellow), green beans, asparagus, tomatoe with just a little cooking spray and seasoning. I grill most of my meats as well.

Beth

ps - Of course the neighbors think I'm nuts because I grill, rain or shine, sleet or snow. Even if I have to shovel to get to the grill.
