Personally, I looked at friends, and folks I knew. These are people that I thought looked perfectly proportioned for their size. I chose people that were my height, or close proximity. I asked them their weight. This is how I derived my “goal” I am pretty tall, 6’3” when I am not slouching, which I rarely do now!

Many websites profess, for optimal body function, BP, etc, I ought to weigh about 198-210 (currently 225) I think I would be too thin if I got there. I am comfortable now, very comfortable. I might see myself 1-5-20 pounds thinner, but I am still toning up.

In the buff, in the mirror, I still see a fat guy (it’s in my mind) but in clothes sized to fit, I look DAMN good. I still have people on a regular basis ask me if I have lost more, though I have not changed much in over 5 months. I think the “toning” is making me look thinner.

My 5 cents!

Mine was just "out of the air." (Although I did base it on what I think I should way for my height, etc.) Actually, when I get to where I want to be, THAT will be my goal weight. (how I fit into clothes, look, etc.)

I set my goal, most likely, too low, simply because 135 is what I got down to on Optifast. My daugher reminded me a couple of weeks ago of a picture someone took of me at 135, and I looked like a 'skullface'. So, I may be resetting my goal weight to 140. All the weight charts say 155, as does the BMI chart, but I think I would be more satisfied at 140.

I chose mine from the last time I felt really comfortable for my weight. It's not set in stone, though. It is open to modification based on how I feel and my clothing size when I get close. I would like to at least get into a size 12 clothing and possibly a 10. This is realistic for me. :exercise:
