Few Newbie Questions...

Postby sunshinekpc » March 7th, 2007, 6:14 pm

Hi everyone! I am new to the program. Ive been on for about a week, but actually followed it about 4 days. But I have a few questions, first can we have Sugar Free coffee creamer? I bought some SF Hazelnut creamer a few weeks ago, and love it, and would love to have it in the coffee in the mornings!

Also, I have been very hungry lately. I normally eat right at 2 hours everyday. Heres what today looked like...

7am-shake
9am-Apple Cinn Cookies
11-made some of the broccoli soup crackers last night, so I ate 1-2.
12-soup-chicken noodle (made with broth)
2-pudding
430-orange shake
7-lean & green (grill chicken salad)
might have some pudding before bed about 9 or so...if I am very hungry.

Is this normal the first few days?

I think thats all for right now. Thanks!!

I am by no means an expert, but it seems like you are actually eating too often - unless a couple of those meals are snacks actually? You should have 5 supplements, 1 L&G, and you can have 1 snack.

I know water can be an acquired taste but if you can get in at least 64oz - more is even better - it will help a lot by making you feel more full, and by helping you lose weight and water weight that you may be retaining.

I hope others chime in - I'm a relative newbie myself so you can take this with a grain of salt if need be.

Yeah the soup crackers at 11 were a snack. the batch made I think like 8 or something and i "munched" on them when I felt hungry between the supplements. I had actually only 5 supplements and 1 l/g.

Actually that plan looks okay on paper ;)
You might be spacing the meals early on too soon and then spacing them out later when your metabolism is kicked in. Are you drinking plenty of water?
You might also try to have something more filling in the morning. Maybe the oatmeal or scrambled eggs (if you have them), or pudding. This might help with the hunger.

As for the coffee creamer. SF things are okay, just be aware of the fat content as well. I use SF syrups for flavoring in a number of things myself. Also, sugar free doesn't always mean carb free, so be careful.

Pre WLS 460
Low after WLS 300
Start of MF 350
Previous MF low 280
Restart MF 330

To chime in here, I had 6 MF meals a day for the first month. Of course, I was over 300 lbs when I started...

Try some bullion in mid morning. Also try the appetite suppressant shakes. Sometimes the hunger comes from extra acid in your stomach (in the anticipation of the food it USED to get), so try some Pepcid or some other non-calorie ant-acid.

Re: the creamer issue. Non-dairy creamer was the second thing that kicked me out of the fat burning state on this program. (The first was regular cough syrup.) If you need whitener and unsweetened soy milk isn't available, go for the real half-and-half and MEASURE it. No more than 2T and count it as your snack for the day. Also, be aware that caffeine actually supresses blood sugar and trigger hunger. So, consider opting for decaf (which still has some caffeine in it).

And it can take 3-4 days of carefully following the program before you're in the fat burning state and don't feel hungry. So, hang in there! Compliance really does pay off.

This is VERY interesting to me!!!! AND it makes perfect sense!!! When I wasn't on medifast, I had acid reflux at night, so I took prilosec otc most days. I'll bet my hunger issues are that acid I deal with when I am stuffed like a luau pig! Thanks :)

I used about 2 tablespoons of sugarfree Coffeemate french vanilla creamer, the big bottles that are in the milk case at the grocery store usually once a day and it never stalled my weight loss.
