Good question! Can we eat eggs for our "lean" part of the lean and green? I REALLY miss my eggs.

Eggs have certainly been discussed at length over the past couple of years it seems. If you do a search for "eggs" you will see what I mean.

Unfortunately, I don't exactly know the egg rule, since I found conflicting responses from Nancy regarding eggs. Eggs are high in cholesterol, so if you are watching that..........I would not have eggs often. (unless you just use the whites which are yuchy without the yolk)

Here are a couple of thread links that will confuse you:

Go to this thread and scroll down to Nancy's post of Nov. 13, 2004.........she will tell you NO EGGS

http://www.makemethinner.com/forum/view ... light=eggs

Now go to this link and scroll down to Nancy's post of Jan. 14, 2005.....she will tell you eggs are allowed

http://www.makemethinner.com/forum/view ... light=eggs

Now go to this link http://www.makemethinner.com/forum/view ... light=eggs

As you can see, on March 11, 2005 Nancy again says it is okay to have eggs within reason (not every day)..........so, the two out of three rule would say that, Yes.......you can have eggs! :D

The search feature on this forum is great for checking for answers to questions you may have. In the past two years, it looks like just about everything has been asked at least once.

Thanks for an EGG-CELLENT question.

Dean

THIS SHOULD HELP YOU LADIES. THIS WAS FROM NANCY.

Taken directly from a “Nancy post”

Onions – and related veggies:

You may have onions! You may have up to 1/4 cup raw peppers, onions, cucumbers, celery, mushrooms, broccoli, tomatoes, cabbage, radishes or sprouts. I really like to add some chopped tomato and/or cabbage and green beans to the minestrone; onions and tomato is great in the chili. Mrs. Dash has a number of salt-free vegetable and herb flavorings that enhance the flavor of the soups and any fresh or steamed veggies that you may have.

Eggs:
Eggs can be used as part of the 5 and 1 plan in the protein portion.

A person can use, 1/2 c of egg substitute, 2 egg whites, or 2 eggs.

If you are having two full eggs a day don't do this more than 2-3 times a week due to the cholesterol level and slight carbohydrate level.

Yep, you may have two eggs as a protein substitute if cholesterol is not a problem for your heart health.

Be sure to spray the pan with a non-stick spray and do not make your omelet with butter…a bit of onion is good with a drizzle of salsa or hot sauce on the top is tasty, too! This would be your Lean and Green meal for the day.

Also remember that each meal (whether it's a meal replacement or lean/green) on the program is balanced. An omlette alone would be a replacement for the protein part of the lean/green. Be sure to have a salad or greens with your omlette.

And like Nancy stated earlier on the forum, eggs have one of the highest cholesterol contents on the planet, so I'd use them sparingly.

As for the mushrooms, i believe they're near 0 across the board and should be fine.

I was reluctant to try Egg Beaters, but did and they are actually very good and taste just like the real thing to me.

Didn't mean to confuse you about the eggs - as new trainings come along, I update and try to keep you informed of the latest. That's why it is nice to use the search feature and also to allow me to go to summer conference....
