And so it begins...

Postby LilMsTexas » March 7th, 2005, 10:16 am

So here I am...sitting at work and eating my Chocolate Crunch bar and drinking my water while everyone else is off to lunch. Today alone I have saved $3.33 cents from not eating my usual McDonald's breakfast and another $9-$12 dollars on lunch depending on where they decided to go! Yes I am a MAJOR "eater outer" :( But...today is the last "first day" of my plan. I like to say plan instead of diet. I just honestly don't think I can DO another "diet". I've been researching and reading and planning and pondering and worrying and what-ifing myself to death since before Christmas. Now today I am in action!

First of course my name is Christi. We are currently stationed in VA, but originially and forever in our hearts TEXANS! I am 35 yrs old, Type II diabetes for 4 years (not well controlled) with a 12 y/o son and a son who will be 1 on the 17th this month and a magnificent husband of 15 years who is Active Duty Army. I sure would like to take my boys to the pool this summer and not feel like the beached whale  I successfully used MF 16 years ago when it was liquid only. I know it works........I just know it takes a LOT of dedication. When I used it before I was single and going to college and had no one else to cook for or even be around while eating. This will be more challening, but all that more rewarding!

I will be weighing on Sunday because I will be less likely to curse after the results, and/or on my way to pray if need be or give thanks--whichever the case may be :D I am looking forward to interacting very often on this forum of wonderful people. As of yesterday I have 51 lbs to lose. Starting weight 186 lbs, 5"5". Hope I haven't written to much. There is so much I want to say and so much to talk about, but that will have to wait for another lunchtime ;)

Hope you are all having a successful journey!! I'm looking forward to being a BIG FAT LOSER with all of you!

Hi Christi! Welcome to the Forum. You've found the perfect place for venting, sharing, complaining, laughing, crying, succeeding... you name it; we do it! This Forum is haunted by all sorts of awesome people who serve as daily sources of inspiration for me-- and I'm sure they will for you, too!

I'm also 5'5", am living in VA (though I consider myself a displaced New Englander at heart), and have re-started MF today, too. So you've already got a friend! I think if you've been on MF before -- especially back when only shakes were an option -- you'll be a great success this time. You already know how to stick with it despite tough times, so I'm sure you'll lose those 50 pounds in no time flat. Come summer, your awesome husband of 15 years won't be able to keep his eyes off your new sleek bod in a new sleek bathing suit!

Welcome; I'm looking forward to getting to know you!

That's neat... I was on MediFast 16 years ago too!!! Worked really well and seems EASIER this time. I remember they had a chicken soup mix...no noodles. You could mix it withe less water and microwave it on a plate to make a big hard cracker. Back then, I LOVED those "crackers." Now we have so many choices that can satisfy all kinds ofcravings!

Welcome!

We are glad you are here and can't wait to hear more about ya as you go along!!

popcorn and picles

Postby LilMsTexas » March 7th, 2005, 12:05 pm

Back then I was "cheating" with dry popcorn and pickles!! I am THRILLED with all the choices now. I ate the oatmeal for the first time this morning and although it needed some sweetner and cinnamon, I know it will help along the way. I'm looking forward to trying it all so I can feel as close to normal as possible........whatever the heck normal is. I just have a screaming headache right now (2 p.m.) and some tummy trouble. I'm afraid my diabetes is going to be a trickier monster to battle than I had imagined. At least I haven't turned postal on my fellow co-workers. Strangely enough they have avoided me today hehe

Glad to know I got an old school buddy on board. Can we have popcorn and pickles? lol

CHEERS!

You're not too far from me at all-- I live near the Mixing Bowl, which, for those of you smart enough not to live near it, is a mess of an intersection where 4 interstates merge just outside of DC.

Just wanted to tell ya-- you CAN have pickles! You can have 2 whole dill pickles a day (some people go for the Splenda-sweetened Gherkins, which you can have a few more of since they're smaller). And of course, you can also have 2 cups of bouillion per day (or MF FastSoups, which are basically potassium-charged bouillion), plus 2 stalks of celery, plus a packet of MF crackers. Heck, you can practically put somethin' in your mouth every 3 minutes! The headaches are normal, unfortunately, but you can take any pain reliever that works for you. Another thing-- if you get really inordinately hungry, you can have an extra shake (idea being it's better to have a shake than a cheeseburger), and for me, taking a Tagamet acid-blocker *really* cuts down on hunger pangs, which were actually caused by over-production of acid. (Not as much food goin' down the gullet for the acid to work on!)

Hope this helps get you thru the first days-- as you know from 16 years ago, the first 3 days are the worst; then the sailing is smoother...

GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!!

Postby LilMsTexas » March 7th, 2005, 3:01 pm

UNBELIEVABLE!! I totally forgot I ordered 4 boxes of GS Cookies!!! They of COURSE arrived this afternoon. Good grief. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I brought them home but put them in the freezer. I'm sure I'll put them out on a plate for my son's birthday party :D

I ended up having to leave work early because I couldn't stay out of the bathroom and my head was killing me. I did go to the store and walk mindlessly past all the bakery section and was quite proud of myself for that.

Anyway........I just popped online to check in. I'm going to go have my dinner and take a nice hot bath. Thank you for getting me through my first crazy day! I still have my lean and green meal and one more shake before bed :D

Cristi, don't forget things like the three stalks of celery and two dill pickles (or a couple of the Splenda-sweetened gherkins) that are "extras" on this plan. The pickles in particular have really pulled me through a lot.

Good luck. Hang in there; it is SO worth it!

Hi, Christi, and welcome to you!

Glad you decided to join Medifast again  !

I am also in Virginia and active duty Navy! So, kuddos to your hubby for taking part of the military as well. My childrens father is in the Army over in Iraq now for the past year and a half  ... He should be home within the next six months. I'm trying to get back to my pre pregnancy weight by the time he gets back. Wouldn't that be a nice welcome home present!

I wish you (all of us) success with this new lifestyle change (for the better)! Until then... Happy losing!!!

Hi Christi!
Welcome!
I agree with 24k that those little extras especially my favorite splenda sweetened Mt Olive bread and butter chips have made it easy to satisfy that sweet, crunchy craving I get sometimes.
I wish you well on this journey and we know that we are here to support you!

Welcome Christi,

I am also in VA. Very close to you. I live in Fauquier County, but I actually do alot of my shopping in Stafford (in Garrisonville) because it is the closest town to me.

My kids are still griping at me because I did not order ANY GS cookies from anyone this year! After a couple of years being a "GS cookie mom" I don't care if I ever see another box of cookies! (I'm glad I no longer have any Girl Scouts).

Good luck in your medifast journey!
