You're doing fantastic. I think MF really makes you aware of food...and what you used to eat. It's so much better not having food the center of everything. :)

I used to loath the weekends...found it was so difficult to stay compliant. Couldn't wait for Monday to come. Now I struggle some through the weekend but it is not as bad as it once was.

I can understand about your relationship with the vending machine...I have had an affair or two with a vending machine. My favorite one was the one that was stocked with Hostess Peach Pies. That one I will always hold a special place in my thighs for!

Anyway....keep up the good work...you will find the "zone" soon enough.

I've been on Medifast over a year, and I STILL get hungry and tempted on occasion. You're definitely doing the right thing by talking yourself out of it and learning new habits. I think you never completely get over that stuff, but the self-talk becomes much more automatic and saying "no, thanks" becomes more of a habit.

You're doing great!!

My Scale Defys ME

Postby alohacate » July 11th, 2006, 10:52 am

I can't believe my scale hasn't moved in two days. AAARRRGGG. I haven't cheated, not once. What is the problem??? The only thing I can think of is I started eating 7 oz Salmon, which I now realize bears eat before they hibernate. Maybe not the best protein choice right now??? Today - back to the chicken..... the salmon tasted soo good. Next week I can start exercising, I am really looking forward to it. I wish I could tell the difference in my clothes, or someone would say "hey are you loosing weight. But alas, I think because of my height - the difference hasn't really been showing yet. Okay - I need to stop this pity party right now. Tommorow is a new day, and I can take charge of today. No more hibernation protien!!

Holding Pattern

Postby alohacate » July 12th, 2006, 2:50 pm

Okay - I must stop this weighing in obsession. The scale still hasn't moved. I am doing fine with my MF, I still get "hungry?" - yet I can manage. I want to get to that mystical "zone". I hooked up with a health advisor - which I think in the long run will be to my advantage. UH's first Volleyball game is August 25, would be nice to be below the 200's - but alas I think it might not be realistic. I don't want to go another season being on TV and being soooooooo big. *sigh* Hopefully by basketball season I will be in One-derland. Hard to be in the public eye and be a big girl, especially here in Hawaii. No more plate lunches, spam musubi and manapua for me!! How do I post my before photos?

Just make a post in the "Studio" and e-mail unca your pics. He can hook you up then.

or

If you have any understanding of picture hosting websites you can up load your pics there and then insert the correct code into your post. If that sounded confusing then I suggest e-mailing Unca and he will get you the hook-up.

*&%$^& Scale

Postby alohacate » July 17th, 2006, 2:31 pm

I have developed a true love/hate relationship with my *&^*)%$@ scale. Of course my husband keeps telling me that if I continued to lose 7lbs a week I would be gone by the time Christmas arrives. I suppose I take pride in the fact that my Body fat has dropped 1%, which is great news. I wish I would have took measurements before I started - alas I only have my scale to guide me with my success.

I am lucky to have lost this much so far and I will wait some more before I can see the scale move again...........

Well, it's not too late to take measurements, of course. Why not ? They may not be measurements from the exact beginning, but you will keep making progress from this point on and they could be just as valuable encouragement-wise.

Congrats on the 1% btw. :).

Shrinking Cupcakes

Postby alohacate » July 18th, 2006, 10:46 am

Had to tighten my bra this morning.........Hooray!! My cupcakes (or is it muffins?) aren't spilling out of the top of the bra anymore!!! When did this happen??? I have also noticed I don't have to take my "work" pants off as soon as I enter the house because they are cutting into my belly roll. PROGRESS! My scale may not be moving but my body is! Hooray.

Hi

Postby dede4wd » July 18th, 2006, 1:41 pm

Good NSV! Cupcakes not spilling out is a good thing and yay about the work pants! I agree with Karli, you can still take your measurements now! I did mine a month later and that's what I use because I didn't do "actual starting" measurements but needed them for my first plateau to keep myself motivated!

Very happy for you! 21lbs gone forever! That's a way to get the scale moving! Woo hoo!

Still stuck

Postby alohacate » July 21st, 2006, 6:47 pm

Haven't written for a few days cause my scale just hasn't moved. :x :x Went to my doctor yesterday and she made me get on the scale - twice. Then she requested some labs on me STAT, to make a long story short all my labs were normal and she is amazed at how much I lost - and no negative effect on my body. I gave her a great big hug and thanked her for suggesting the Medifast Plan. I feel so blessed to have found this plan and this forum. :pigsfly:

my scale

Postby alohacate » August 4th, 2006, 12:41 pm

*Sigh* I miss my scale. Although we have had our differences over the last month, it was my favorite place to visit (besides this forum). Just some random thoughts today. I wonder how many people on this forum have had their gall bladders removed and if they - like me- gained weigth after removal. I wonder how many people have PCOS - like me- and have gained a tremendous amount of weight that was impossible to lose. I wonder how many people - like me- were emotional eaters that used "comfort food" to escape with. What a combination - health issues and food addiction.

I can't believe I was drowning in denial before - I couldn't admit that my weight was an issue even as my clothes "shrank". I even accused my husband of "over drying" my pants one day. I think the day that reality smacked me was a visit to my OBYN and a Resident was training so he came in and did the initial exam. He asked me if I had been referred for a gastric bypass surgery yet. I was so shocked, I couldn't speak. I was thinking (in my head) "buddy you better look in the mirror because your bigger than me". Soon after this encounter my "real" OBYN diagnosed me with PCOS-however, I will be forever grateful for that encounter with that Resident. His honest off the cuff remark has been a burning motivation in my heart & soul.
