Yuk!! Banana

Postby chanceaway » April 10th, 2006, 4:27 pm

I ordered two weeks worth of mf to try it and I am losing already, but I only ordered banana and chocolate ( flavors I thought I would most like) Well I hate the flavor of the banana shake and pudding I like the soup and bars and chocolate shakes and pudding though. If I can make it through these two weeks and force the banana down I will never order that flavor again. Are there any other flavors any of you can suggest me not to order next time? Its hard to stick with something that makes you sick to drink or eat. :(

I can now say that I've tried everything that came in the 4wk variety pack (except the bars - I'm only having 1 per week), and the Banana is the ONLY flavor I absolutely cannot stand in pudding or shake form.
Here's my list (yeah... I make a lot of lists lol)

Vanilla Shake - good
Strawberry Shake - good
Banana Shake - EW
Orange Shake - ok/good
Chocolate shake - ok

Hot Chocolate - ok
Chai - ok - too spicy, needed extra water
Cappucino - FABULOUS

Chili - Good w/garlic, onion & chili powder + 2tbls rotel
Minestrone - ok
Chicken & Rice - YUMMY!
Cream of Tomato - Great w/garlic powder, salt & a touch of pickle juice
Chicken noodle - good
Cream of Broccoli - Ok, a little thin

Chocolate Pudding - YUM!
Banana Pudding - EW

Peach Oatmeal - good
Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal - ok, kind of bland
French Vanilla Berry - ok, bland
Maple & Brown Sugar - bland

Oatmeal Raisin Bar - Good

Again, I haven't tried any of the other bars yet as I'm restricting them to once a week, but that covers all of the items I have tasted. Of course, everyones taste varies & there are people who love the banana but hate the vanilla or something else I liked. So, I guess I'd suggest ordering the 4wk variety pack (with 1wk free) to get a fell for most of the foods available!

Also, I'm still going to give the banana another shot, playing with extracts & spices to see if I can mask the faux banana taste :)

That helps me out a lot. I know that I am not the only one who thinks the banana is terrible. Why do you limit yourself to 1 bar a week?

Shana, for the oatmeals, try adding a packet or two of Splenda and a teaspoon of cinnamon. I also sometimes add some DaVinci (caramel in the apple-cinnamon and blueberry in the vanilla berry).

The hot chocolate is great with some DaVinci in toasted marshmallow or hazelnut - and even better when it's mixed with cold water and ice, like a shake.

I'm limiting myself to a bar a week for a couple of reasons - but mainly because while I never really ate a lot of sweets in the past, when I did I typically binged on them, and the bars remind me of a "treat", so I'm treating them as such - it's kind of my way of dealing with past behaviors - probably not a very clear explanation, but there you have it.

DogMa, I'm still searching for DaVinci in my area - I wanted to try everything straigt out of the pouch before trying it with extras just to see how they were in case of "emergency" lol. After a bite of a few things I started adding :) Tonights hot cocoa will be done in the smoothie maker with ice & maybe a touch of almond extract... mmmmmm!

:| I must admit that I do not mind the banana shake, which I just received in an extra order today. Before even trying it, I added Davinci Rapberry syrup to it, and suprisingly, it is really good! Just a thought.

We can have 5 of our favorite supplements each day(1 bar per day), along with the Lean and Green meal, so we can choose our favorites and stick with them. As for me, the Swiss Mocha is a no-no! That is, until I experiment some more with added syrups. Extracts just don't do it when it comes to the mocha. Hope this helps.

I didn't have much luck finding the syrups in my area, either. I finally went online and ordered some.
LowCarbandMore.com
DavinciGourmet.com

At the Low Carb website, the prices are a bit more reasonable, and both sites have a wonderful selection of flavored sugar free syrups. Hope this helps if you cannot find them locally.

Do you have a TJ Maxx? They usually carry at least some of the flavors. Target has its own private-label brand of syrups and the caramel was quite good. Wal-Mart has a very limited selection, but mine at least has the hazelnut (in a smaller bottle, too, which is nice for sampling).

Good luck!!

Good luck!!

There are a few TJ Maxx's not too far from me - I meant to pop in this past weekend but it slipped my mind. I didn't see any at walmart, though I may have been checking the wrong aisle....
Thanks for the suggestions!

My Wal-mart keeps 'em in the coffee aisle. At TJ Maxx, they're in the back where the housewares and gourmet foods are. Good luck!!
