OK - bare it all.
What spices do you have in your collection?
Which are your favorite & for what meals?
Cheers,
Li

I like to put extra cinnamon in my apple cinnamon oatmeal. Also put tobasco sauce in all the soups and chili.

My spice cabinet contents would take an entire page, at least. But I had that long before Medifast. Stuff I use regularly would be:

Hot sauce (a few different kinds, for soups and also to marinate chicken)
Cinnamon (for all the oatmeals)
Splenda (for all the oatmeals)
A variety of sugar-free spice rubs for meat and chicken
Dried roasted garlic (for broccoli soup)
Dried green onions (for chili and sometimes other soups)
Better Than Bouillon chili base (OK, this is in the fridge, but still)
Ginger (sometimes added to chicken noodle soup)
Ground cumin (for chili)
Curry powder (sometimes added to broccoli soup)
Robin

I use the following:

Tequila Lime from danandbucks dot com (for chicken, tilapia, and shrimp)
Bacon Jalapeno Butter from danandbucks (for chicken and pork, as well as dove and quail)
Butter Ponchatrain from danandbucks (for fish and steak)
Cajun Blackened from danandbucks (for fish chicken and steak)
Molly McButter (for veggies, oatmeal, and brocoli soup)
Molly McCheese (for veggies, and cream soups)
Onion Powder (for veggies and all meats and soups)
Garlic Powder (for veggies and all meats and soups)
Cayenne Pepper (for soups)
Mazolla cooking sprays--I like the Extra Virgin Olive Oil and the Butter (these are like Pam, only they have no alcohol and no silicon--they taste better)
Coconut Extract, Pineapple extract, almond extract, vanilla extract (I make a pina colada shake out of the vanilla shake packet and ice)
For shakes, I only like the vanilla if mixed with either diet root beer or diet Big Red soda, blended with ice; I like the orange shake blended with diet creme soda and ice
The chocolate and vanilla shakes are good mixed together and blended with a lot of ice. It makes it thicker. It does make 2 servings, so only have 1/2 of it at a time. Freeze what you don't have and then have it later as a slushy
Splenda (for iced tea and muffins)
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray (for veggies and sometimes soup)
Low Sodium Chicken Bullion (for snack and for chicken and brocoli soup)

That mostly covers it. I have a few other things, but it would take hours to list them all. Good luck and Happy Shakin!!

Nutmeg!

Postby Lauraly » June 8th, 2006, 11:23 pm

I have been on a nutmeg kick lately. Nutmeg in everything! I have been just leaving my grater out on the counter, I use it so often. I add it to shakes, oatmeals and pudding. So yummy!

Plus, it reminds me of Christmas as a kid when my Mom would give us eggnog (non-alchoholic, of course) with fresh grated nutmeg in it. Just the smell of nutmeg gives me a smile to this day.

I have bought a lot of spices, but honestly, I've found that most of them add very little to what I cook.

What I have found myself using the most right now are fresh herbs from my garden (I plant a LARGE strawberry pot outside my back door on my deck and fill it with herbs).

I have been using a lot of basil (great rolled up in lunchmeat) and rosemary skewers (rosemary twigs with most of leaves off) for grilling shrimp.

Oh - and lots and lots of mint in my decaf tea!

lol, Sharon!

I also like fresh basil, fresh rosemary, the usual stuff like sage, corriander, thyme, allspice and, like Lauraly, nutmeg.
