Leopard Woman LOVES Rotel...I used to make the TEXAS CON QUESO
with the plastic cheese that needs no refrigeration - perhaps that's why I am so well preserved for a woman of 93 years...

Rotel is excellent in the chili an also in the Minestrone. I didn't know if it was available nation-wide. Thanks, Dean-o for the link. You are our research man!

Ro Tel

Postby Seaside » May 24th, 2005, 5:47 am

I love Rotel Sauce too! Didja know that they make an extra hot rotel now, too. As a serious chile-head, I find the regular rotel a bit tame so I bought the extra hot, thinking that it would be just about right. Knocked my socks off -- it is spicy hot!

Love the chili ideas. I always add some chipotle powder to my packet of chili to give it a smoky hot flavor that really cuts the soy-bitterness out. Will have to try the 1 tsp of fat-free sour cream!

Oh, yeah, love the extra hot Rotel!

People, watch the fat free sour cream - I mean a TEASPOON, not a tablespoon.

Teensy weensy dab.

Some of you over-do...yep, I've been peekin' in on you. :hmmm:

Nancy~~you wouldn't be referring to me, now would you?? ;) You'll be happy to know, I have cut the BBQ sauce altogether (that was hard :aarggh: ). And the last time I made the chili over a lettuce bed I used very little fat free sour cream.

I am learning...........I am a little slow sometimes.......but I am learning.

Dear Dear Donica ~

re: .

You are absolved of any previous infractions!

Remember the old adage, "If the shoe fits; wear it?"

My Medifast adage is, "If it tastes good; don't eat it!"

Hah! Just Kidding! :muahaha:

While we are in the weight loss phase, this is Foodies' :weightlift: Boot Camp. We keep you :whip: structured up so the numbers go down.

Once we get to maintenance, we can use a little more of the fat free sour cream and the barbeque sauces - :shades: within limits - to season and flavor our regular foods.

Currently we are learning to like (or trying to like!) the taste of food, love the feel of the energy and clear thinking that comes with eating nutritiously, know when and how much to eat, to keep our water intake up and our body re-hydrated (much of our hunger sensations really stems from being thirsty) and to :bib: eat frequently.

I just got off the phone with a lady who weighs in excess of 350#, 5’ 3” tall, who eats once a day. She described her meal intake as that of "a five year old" – one bowl of soup. Her body has shut down because it needs better nutrition than what she gives it and it needs it more frequently.

You are doing so well, Donica. I’d say that you’ve got it! :thumbig:

You are in the Medigroove of eating the right things on time!

 Yippy for YOU and your thinnin’ self!

I would say your couple of Tablespoons are just fine. It adds a nice spicy flavor to many foods.

Rotel

Postby Blondie » January 31st, 2006, 1:33 pm

OMG Donna, I love this stuff. It comes in a can and it is usually by the diced tomatoes. It is a blend of diced tomatoes and peppers and spicy.....hot......stuff  (Very informative huh?) Rotel is the name on the can. I usually mix a can of this with Velveeta to make most excellent :kool: tasting nachos. Of course, I no longer eat them........but they sure are good. My husband is a nacho maniac. He is so wonderful........he has only made them once since I started MF. I love that guy.

Surely they sell ROTEL in R.I. If not, let me know and I will personally mail you some. If you like mexican food you will love ROTEL.

DonicaB

Hi Donna,
Can you please send me some Rotel? I can not find it here in NJ.
Or do you suggest I look in a specific place here?
Please help, I love hot stuff or mexican stuff.
Thanks,
Maria

Oh my goodness -- they've found the Rotel. My poor northern stomach can't handle this -- it burns. But then Nancy loves it hmmmmm well she likes hot other stuff tooo!!! But of course lots of things are tooooo hot for me. I'm 1/2 Swedish so you know we don't like hot stuff we're from the cold North. :? I'm just warning others like me that it's HOT :-P YOu can join me and use canned diced tomatoes if you like  I must tell you though to be fair that I have heard that hot stuff ups the metabolism and so you'll burn fat faster. As for me I just burn my tummy!!!!
