What's the Worse...

Postby CGal67 » November 25th, 2007, 1:15 pm

I was sitting here today reading my old journal from back when I as 26 years old...and I realized I have tried a lot of strange diets!

I just wondered what is the worst diet you've ever tried? (worse could be funny or down right awful)

The bulimia and slimfast and canned green bean diet. The only food I would keep down was the slimfast shakes and green beans.

I gained 20 lbs doing the Akins diet. I ate all the fat that I would normally not eat but then I would slip and have carbs so.....duh.... :hammerhead1:

I remember a fad diet when I was a teenager (a LONG time ago): If you stayed up all night and drank lemon juice you supposedly would lose 5# overnight! Never tried it. I did try the grapefruit diet once ... surprised I still like grapefruit!

I did this one called the 3 day diet... the menu was disgusting with things like beets, cottage cheese, plain tuna etc. Basically a lot of things I refused to eat. Needless to say I lost weight but only because the food was nasty. LOL! Then I gorged on the 4th day. :|

I think the hardest one for me was the pre-bypass diet that my doctor prescribed. I had two protein shakes (55 grams of protein, 3 grams carbs, no grams of anything tasty ;) ) a day and one small lean and green type meal (although it was about 2/3 of our lean and green).
Did it work... yes. Was I voraciously hungry all of the time... yes. Would I have been able to continue this for more than the 4 (yes, count them 4) months that I did it.... no way.

In the end, I lost 55 lbs in 4 months, then I had the surgery, lost 105 using that tool, then wasted the tool by eating wrong again and gaining back 50.

Medifast is so much easier, healthier, and gives the same results if I just would stick to the program ( )

Mine was a 900 calorie/day diet. I found these cookies that were 60 calories each and that's about all I ate. That's 15 cookies/day. Of course I lost count sometimes....... I lost weight but couldn't stick to it. You even get sick of cookies if that's all you eat.

I have it on good authority that your statement is untrue.

Does anyone remember the Cambridge diet? it was in the early 80's and it was powder, not sure what was in that stuff but I lost major weight drinking it.
I got really sick on a lot of diets though, mainly eating anything I wanted one day and starving for 4 while in college and then of course doing the phen-fen about 10 years ago! gee what we do to our bodies.....

This is the best thing I've done for my health in a long time combined with the walking an hour each day and the water, I FEEL GREAT!!!!!!

Wonder how many WW points were in the cookies? I could have had cookies with my ice cream, lol.

I can't remember the name anymore, but it was some weight-loss center in California. You drank their shakes (four a day, I think?) and had one meal a day, and then you were supposed to work out at their gym a few times a week. I lasted less than a week because my blood sugar went crazy and I was too weak and shaky to get through even one workout, and I couldn't make a one-hour drive without stopping to potty.
