Waist vs. Thighs

Postby Lauraly » May 31st, 2006, 10:58 am

I've started to notice that my jeans are pretty loose around the waist, to the point where I finally had to dig out the one belt I own, to keep the darn things up.

However, my thighs still fill out the pants very well. When I first put them on, they are almost a little tight on the legs, but they loosen throughout the day. This is all subjective, as I don't have a tape measure, but my thighs seem exactly the same as they did 20 lbs ago.

Has anyone else had this uneven weight loss? I read somewhere that the thighs were the last place a woman loses weight. For those far along to their goal, when did you start seeing a difference in the thighs?

I'm no expert, but I believe muscle tone has a lot to do with legs. I'm noticing flabby muscles more now, after losing some fat on my legs.

Unfortunately I lose weight from the top down so the legs/butt will be the last to show significant progress, especially if I don't incorporate more (any LOL) exercise. I suspect a good number of women are in the same boat.

I'm the opposite. My legs and tush slimmed down a lot faster than my waist this time around. It's made my waist:hip ratio much worse, which I'm not happy about, but I'm assuming my waist will start catching up.

I am like Robin. I now look like a pumpkin on stilts. My legs are getting much slimmer. I noticed the other night, when I sit down, they don't "spread out" as much. Now my stomach, on the other hand. I have been doing some ab exercises that seem to be working. They worked GREAT the first two weeks, but not seeing much now. Last August when I had my c section, it was a HUGE life and death emergnecy times two. I was dieing, as was my baby. The section was done vertical on the outside, horizontal on the uterus. So, I look like I have a butt crack down the middle of my tummy. It really is sad. You can feel where the muscles are separated. It is going to be really hard to tone that up. My flab isn't melting away like I had hoped, either. So, I have this round top and these thin legs and I look really quite funny. That is why I have yet to post an updated pic. I feel like I looked better with the weight on that I have lost. At least I was a little more proportioned.

I'm in the bigger waist club. It's so bad that I can't go down any sizes because nothing fits in the waist.

Hmmm...I guess we all lose in different places. Thanks for the feedback!

Lauraly, I'm exactly like you. I think I've lost all I can in my upper body and my thighs are still big (in my opinion). I have been measuring and lost about 2.5 inches there though in the 15 lbs I've lost. Start walking or some aerobics and it may help. I noticed that the area above my knee has been getting smaller and more defined a few weeks ago so I'm hoping it will eventually work it's way up to my thighs. I jog and do a Yoga/Pilates DVD almost everyday.

Laura,
Hi,
I'm losing TOTALLY top down...I started at my face, neck, shoulders, back fat, waist & belly and a little on the rear...thighs are moving...but much slower than the rest of it. I even lost some in my feet, but the thighs are STILL rubbing together! I'm happy I'm losing, but losing a little thighs and getting back a little on the cupcakes, is that TOO much to ask?
