10 things

Postby lauradr » April 19th, 2006, 7:46 am

I have had a challenging week, I have read a lot and I found this and did it. After a few things Nancy said last night I thought it would be good if we all found 10 things we liked about ourselves and 10 things we are thankful for. I will post the 10 things I am thankful for later today. But I thank it helps. There are so many wonderful people on the board. :D :D :D :D

1. That I love God and look to him for guidance.
2. I am a good Wife, Mother, Nana, daughter and Friend.
3. I started Medifast and have had the power to stick with it when I have had so many diets fail.
4. That I have had improved health and I helped to make that happen.
5. That I listen to my heart.
6. I have a good sense of humor.
7. I am a very Positive person, try to find a positive in every thing.
8. I love my Job and that I get to Travel with it and meet lots of new People.
9. I’m sensitive to other's needs and do what I can to help if I can.
10. after many years I’m finely comfortable with who I am and no longer afraid to try new things.
I'm not where I wanna be but, thank God I'm not where I use to be!

Alright here comes mine....not sure I can find 10 positive things about me but I will try (I tend to have self-esteem issues.

10 Things I am thankful for:

8. The HA's and this board for keeping me going.

This is the hard part - 10 Positive Things about me.

1. I strive to live my life with a "be ye kind, one to another" philosophy as God commands us to do.
2. I love being a wife and mother and work very hard at trying to be a good one.
3. I am loyal
4. I am a hard worker

Great posts everyone! I needed this, although, like Michelle said, it may be hard to think of 10 positive things about me.

11 things I am thankful for...

1. For my salvation and for being brought up to fear and love God.
2. For my wonderful, loving, supportive husband.
3. For having good health, in spite of always being overweight.
4. For having a home, an income and so much abundance.
5. For our wonderful little furry children! :)
6. For our country and it's remaining freedoms.
7. For my family, especially that my mom is still with us.
8. For my friends
9. For finding Medifast, this forum and the great people here.
10. For knowing I will get 100 pounds off THIS year.
11. For being thankful!

10 Positive Things about me.

1. I have a tender heart toward people and God.
2. I love my husband and treat him good!
3. I hurt when others hurt and rejoice with their rejoicing.
4. I have nice hair & crystal blue eyes
5. I have a creative and vivid imagination (for good)
6. I love to give and am not money crazy
7. I am 53 pounds smaller than I was at one time
8. I am tall (I use to hate this)
9. I have cute, farm-fresh freckles (I use to hate those!)
10. I have a fairly good sense of humor.

Now why was that so hard? It would be easy to think of ten negative things!

I think this post belongs in the elevator...what do you guys think?

I'll get started on my list, but it's gonna take a while, because all I've got to say positive about myself right now is that I have really interesting toenail polish on...I'll keep working!

I know what I'm thankful for though...you guys!

Lizabette - you are an inspiration to me! I only hope and pray that I can serve the Lord in the capacity that you have and that He one day willl look upon me and say "well done thy good and faithful servant".

And I can only pray that I have as long of a marriage as you have had. My husband is my best friend and we've been married for 12 years now and it went by like THAT!

Thanks Laura for this post! It was an awesome idea!

LAURA,

You are much too kind... we are what we are only by the grace of God.

I feel very priveleged to know you all, and to travel along with you on what may be the biggest challenge any of us will face...taking every bit of comittment and determination we can muster.

We have each other and our caring Health Advisors and the MMT forums to keep us on course toward our desired destinations.

Thank you again, LAURA and all of you for your nice words. I appreciate you very much.

Wow Lizabette! All I can say is taken from the words from a song that we sang in my church choir a couple of years ago -- "thank you for giving to the Lord" (by Ray Boltz). Your witness is truly an inspiration and reflection of God's love.

If you don't know the song I'm speaking of, please google it (because Mr. Snippy won't allow links) and read the lyrics. It is a song that brings tears to my eyes everytime we sing it.

BOBBI,

I found the lyrics to "Thank You For Giving To The Lord" and they are so touching. I know your choir must have sounded like angels when you sang it. Thank you.

I dare to copy the lyrics here for everyone, because I believe they apply to so many, many people on this forum.

What I want to do is to dedicate this post to NANCY & TERRY who heads MMT for their caring and love for us all.

“Thank You” by Ray Boltz

I dreamed I went to heaven
And you were there with me
We walked upon the streets of gold
Beside the crystal sea
We heard the angels singing
Then someone called your name
You turned and saw this young man
And he was smiling as he came
And he said friend you may not know me now
And then he said but wait
You used to teach my Sunday School
When I was only eight
And every week you would say a prayer
Before the class would start
And one day when you said that prayer
I asked Jesus in my heart

CHORUS
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am a life that was changed
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am so glad you gave

Then another man stood before you
And said remember the time
A missionary came to your church
And his pictures made you cry
You didn’t have much money
But you gave it anyway
Jesus took the gift you gave
And that’s why I’m here today

CHORUS (repeat)

One by one they came
Far as the eyes could see
Each life somehow touched
By your generosity
Little things that you had done
Sacrifices made
Unnoticed on the earth
In heaven now proclaimed

And I know that up in heaven
You’re not supposed to cry
But I am almost sure
There were tears in your eyes
As Jesus took your hand
And you stood before the Lord
He said, my child look around you
For great is your reward

CHORUS (repeat) I am so glad you gave

Oh, my!

I am in Brandywine, Delaware, sitting on the side of the bed with my lappy sittin' on the nightstand, weeping with joy over all of you dear people.

It is VITAL that we change our self-talk and our self-thoughts. We don’t need others to put us down because we are our own enemy; we chip away at our self-esteem with a sledge hammer by the things we say to our self about ourselves. We must all work on this. No more self-deprecating talk...think thinny positive thoughts about YOU.

Mom 23, I love that song by Ray Boltz - it is my heart's desire to be a person that he describes - I am working towards that. Thank you, Itsy Bitsy Silver Foxy One!

DeDe, get your buns in gear and write out 10 things you like about you. Do it. Toenail polish does not count! At least say something like, I have a good sense of color and can select appropriate nail polish hues to compliment my skin coloring...or I keep my nails well-groomed...

Stand tall, Princesses! You are becoming the person you always dreamed you would be with every shake you make and sip! Are there any Princes out there that will join us and make a list of the things they are thankful for and the things they like about themselves, huh?
Nothing tastes as good as thin feels...
