Yuck on the hives Sandy! I had them at during my Wedding rehearsal! It was awful! I oculdnt imagine having them for as long as you have!!

Hopefully it isnt MF related and you will be back on track after the 5th!

I hope you have a great visit with your sister!

That's not where you want the swelling to go down!

I am really late to this post but it struck me funny....

Hi,
I haven't been posting much, but I have been reading. I hope the cause of your hives is located soon! 6 weeks of hives, yikes! Great job with the not scratching!

Super-duper congratulations on making it to the 1/2 way point! Woo immediately followed by a hoo!

Have fun in AZ! I'll be there Tuesday and part of Wednesday, just to visit my couch!

I'm back!! Thanks to everyone for commiserating with me!
Here's what I posted elsewhere on the forum:

Well, I have some good news and some better news! The good news is that in the 17 days that I was forced to go off plan by my evil wicked doctor I was able to pretty much maintain my weight loss. I gained less than 2 lbs. Yay me!! The better news is that, as of Sunday (the 10th), I’m back on plan. NO MORE HIVES!!!!! I’m so very glad to be bump-less, but even happier to be back—you have no idea… Let me just say that Eggbeaters and asparagus and SF Jello are my new best friends!

Apparently, it’s flaxseed that I’m quite allergic to, not MF. Here’s what happened: I’ve always taken EFA capsules and decided to switch to flaxseed oil, having heard and read such good things about it. I first started using ground flaxseed for my Lab, who has some joint issues, and then noticed how great his coat looked and that his shedding had noticeably decreased. Nice side effect. Hmmm. I have joint issues. I want beautiful, shiny hair that doesn’t fall out. Let’s try the flaxseed capsules, I thought. Well…I always kept my EFAs in a little plastic container that is more convenient than the bottle they come in, so I dumped the flaxseed in there as well. They look really different, so I just fished out the EFAs until I was done with them, and then started on the flaxseed. When the doctor asked me if I had changed anything else in my diet, other than MF, the flaxseed didn’t even occur to me because I had actually gotten it 2-3 weeks before starting MF, and didn’t really know exactly when I’d begun taking it—it was just my EFA stuff, and I’d been doing that for a long time. When after several days went by with no MF and still lots of hives, we finally figured it out! I actually had “the light go on" as I was swallowing one of the capsules, and practically choked myself trying not to allow it down my throat!! Even still, it took several days before the hives were gone completely, so it was a little difficult to be sure for a while there. But gone they are, and I am once again a happy MFer!

The last few days back on the wagon have been considerably more difficult than I recall my first few days on program being. I actually felt drugged this morning, and had to FORCE myself to leave my comfy bed. This could also be because school just began and my off-for-the-past-two-months lazy self is having a little bit of an adjustment issue! What was I thinking taking an eight a.m. class??? Idiot! Ah, well…at least it’s interesting enough to keep me awake (Abnormal Psych). Or could it be the coffee my sister sent me from Costa Rica? Yum!

I’ve tried to catch up with most of the posts, but knew that if I let myself actually log on and respond, I would spend way too much time in the forum. With school starting 'n all, I just couldn’t afford to do that. I definitely won’t be spending as much time here as I did before, but I will try to pop in now and again. It’ll undoubtedly make a nice break from the homework, and I certainly need the support. Wow, I missed you all so much!!

I am so very proud of everyone here! Things have really been moving right along, haven’t they? I’m not even gonna’ try to name names this time, LOL; everyone that has done so well, knows who they are—and I offer a hearty congratulations and major hugs for a job well done. Special congrats to those for whom getting to goal is no longer a future endeavor, but something already in their past. I can’t wait ‘til I join you! I’d also like to extend a warm welcome to all of the newbies that have joined in the time I’ve been gone. Wow, there are a lot of you!! You’re all doing so well, keep up the good work! As I’m sure you’ve already grasped, this is the best support forum in the history of the world. 4Realz.

I’m posting this here and in my journal as well—I had been working on keeping up my journal just before I left, so maybe this will help with that. Hopefully, by week’s end I’ll have a new club. That would be way cool, and a nice way to welcome myself back home.

Ahhhh………

Check it out! Two days in a row posting in my journal, lol. Yeah well, I have no classes on Fridays, so I took some time to cruise the forum. People were just cracking me up today. I knew I loved this place for the support and advice and stuff, but I'd forgotten how freakin' funny everybody is!

Anyhoo...

I felt much better today than yesterday. I actually woke up fairly early, when I could've slept in all day if I'd wanted to! Then, I actually got stuff done around the house. Amazing. I hope this means that I'm back in ketosis, 'cuz I didn't even have a cup of coffee.

Totally bummed that I had to throw my spinach out, 'cuz I was looking forward to a big, fat salad. I hope everyone on the forum is spared; I know there must be a lot of spinach eaters here. Anyway, I had fresh green beans instead. Muy yummy!

Went shopping in my closet again today. That rocks, I love it. My Levi jeans in size 9 Junior are close to being wearable in public. For now the 11s are good--for a while anyway.

Great NSVs at school all week from people I haven't seen all summer. One guy asked me what I'd done to whittle myself away to almost nothing. Yeah, I hugged him! Another person told me that I was swimming in my shirt, it was so big. I hugged her too!

P.S. My clavicles are beginning to peek out!

OMG! Am I gonna' have to smack both you and Robin? You're both HOT and neither one of you is able to see it in yourself. Whatzupwiddat?? Shut up anyway Alex, you're dating seven different women, for Pete's sake. I suppose they're all just really into funny looking chicks, eh?

is that really an option? i don't know about Robin, but I'm down...

well, i'm reasonably sure 2 of them rode the short bus during their formative years. one is really crazy; good thing she's hot. one is so busy with her job that i'm not sure she's looked up at my face yet. the other three, well, obviously they carry all of their taste in their mouths.

Sorry Xmas Beach Baby...a little late, huh?

So much for keeping up with my journal! School is kicking my arse. Hard. Though it's keeping me really busy, it’s also very interesting and I’m learning a great deal. I have really excellent professors this semester. Well, I haven’t had any really bad profs, but the folks this semester are exceptional. I’m also taking a sign language course, and the instructors are a brother and sister team, the male of whom has been deaf since birth. They are great fun and I’m amazed at how much I’ve learned in the short time I’ve been in this class. My niece and a very good friend of mine are both enrolled in the class as well, so I have ample opportunity to practice with one or the other of them.

I have not been getting very much sleep. I think that’s one of the reasons my weight loss has slowed so much, aside from the fact that it was just bound to happen eventually. Another issue I’m having is that, as a matter of convenience, I ordered only RTDs for shakes. Well, I had been using the powdered shakes in the 70 formula, which really seemed to work well for me. Switching to the RTDs, which only come in 55, seemed to affect my energy level. I spoke to Nancy for suggestions on how to increase my protein intake without jeopardizing the protein/carb/calorie ratio, and she recommended just having an additional supplement. Also, because my days are really long, so an extra supplement will fit in nicely. I’ve been a little afraid that it would slow my weight loss, but my weight loss has slowed anyway, so I think I’ll begin doing that tomorrow…uhm, today (Mon 10/2). We’ll see what happens.

My sister was here this weekend. The woman left with thousands of dollars worth of my clothing, and even shoes that no longer fit--and I was more than happy to be giving it away!! Even though most of it was really nice, expensive stuff...fat clothes suck! Seriously, her entire trunk and back seat were full! Those junior size 9 Levis I was talking about? Yeah, they fit now. Woohoo!! I've been wearing them all week, and already have a size 7 waiting in the wings!

I need to post recent pics. Nova and Reginia won’t leave me alone. They’ve borrowed the skinny stick from Lizabette and are beating me with it, LOL. I did post a very fuzzy head shot in the Studio, and that’ll just have to do for now because I have a couple of big tests on Tuesday. I shouldn’t even be posting right now, but I needed a break. Then, I think I’ll actually go to bed! Wow, I might just get 5 or 6 hours of sleep tonight! Yippee!

Hasta!

I remember school days like that. Not too fondly, either. Okay, I'll let you off the hook for pics for a while. ;)

I think you're right on the sleep. I've been seeing a lot of articles about how sleep affects weight loss, so do your best to get a couple extra hours this week.

The shoe size thing still gets me. I have worn a 9 for like 10 years and all of a sudden I am back to a 8.5 twice I have grabbed shoes without trying them on and they are too big

Hooray for you, for sticking with the program through the stress and busy-ness of being in school. When I was in graduate school in my mid 30's. it was one of my biggest weight gain time periods, cuz it was just so easy to eat on the run and to help with stress. Kudos to you!!!!
