Seafood Question

Postby Elimatal » October 11th, 2005, 2:06 pm

Hi everybody!!! :D I have a question regarding seafood, like tuna, shrimp, etc...---can seafood be included in the lean and green meal for the day? I know it would have to be the right amount of ounces, but every now and then i really get a hankerin' for some seafood!

I also have a question about seafood!! :)

My quick start guide is in my car (good place for it huh!) but I think it said we could have seafood...listed with the chicken and turkey??

If so...

There are these handy little pre-packed tuna pouches, flakes, fillets or steaks, flavored...an example:

Starkist Tuna Creations, Zesty Lemon Pepper Flavor
2oz serving size/5oz total package
Per Serving:
60 Calories
0g Fat
25mg Cholesterol
250mg Sodium
0g Carbohydrate
12g Protein

If that sounds okay for the lean portion, my question is:

Do I eat one serving as listed on the package, or go by total ounces like we do for other meats??

(Crossing fingers that the tuna is OK 'cause it is yummmmmy!!)

Don't forget there are other fish in the sea, too.

For those that enjoy tuna, try to limit it to no more than 6oz in one week due to the high levels of mercury. Children should be restricted to even less. The mercury is quite harmful and can build up in our bodies.

If you aren't aware of the safe/unsafe fish, I recommend doing a search to find out more information.

Go for the seafood - up to 7 ounces of happiness!

I recently had an awesome seafood louie salad with 7 oz crab and shrimp -- super yummy!!!!

As long as it isn't too fishy, I am in! Enjoy!

Hi there, Fellowette Fish Lovers ~

Yup, you may have shrimp, crab, tuna, talapia, lobster, etc. I'm with you, Jentuke about limiting tuna but I do have it once in a while. I like the Medifast Essential 1* Chicken Salad.

Elimatal ~ I haven't seen the tuna filets you refer to but I would assume if they are just seasoned and not breaded they would be all right. Check out the carbs - if it's a zero, go for it.

MorningIce ~ I'm not quite sure if I understand the portion/serving size of the package you mention. If the contents are shown to be a 2 ounce PORTION size in a 5 ounce package - meaning the package contains 2.5 PORTIONS per package (2 ounces plus 2 ounces plus 1 ounce) then you could have one whole package and part of another. That would give you about 180 calories total for the Lean portion. The calories for the Lean and Green total should be about 300 calories.

(*Please note when you have a packet of the Essential 1, you must have a small green salad AND a 1-2 cup serving of cooked green veggies to make the meal complete and balanced.)
