Good morning Pam! I'm doing great! My scale number...not so much lol. The sticks are simple to use, just pass them through your urine, wait 15 seconds then compare the color on the stick to the colors on the bottle. Should you get some? hmmm...that's hard to answer because it's all a matter of personal preference. There are certain things i'm anal about (i.e. weighing daily and stick color :| ) I also like to try to know as much about my body during this process as possible. For example, i have learned over the years that i am VERY carb sensitive, when i feel hungry, i usually see a larger weightloss and things like that. Thats the main reason i use the sticks, to see if there is any correlation between the different colors and my weightloss, moods or anything else that might seem important. I see you asked SQ if it seems to predict weight loss (i'm paraphrasing here). I will just say that when my color was darker, i did have a large weight loss. Last week, my color lightened to the "moderate range" and one day it was even "neutral". This week has been a bad week to compare though, due to TOM, my scale has not been my friend. I use them as motivation to keep myself on track.

I say all that to say, if you are interested in finding out more details about how things affect your body or having a tool to help evaluate diet, get the sticks. One day you may be more purple-ish and one day it may be lighter, in that case, you will be able to review your carb intake for those days and see what the difference was. Maybe your L&G had more carbs or maybe you had a bar that day. Like i said, i just use them for info because i realize that it is possible for the color to get lighter (or darker) even when remaining completely compliant. When it jumps back to neutral, i really take a closer look at my diet. Maybe i consumed "hidden items" in my L&G which i would know to eliminate next time. Personally, i love the sticks but OTOH, i don't think they are absolutely necessary to succeed with MF. hope this helps!

Hey, OC!!! I’ve been hiding out, I know! There is lots going on around here but to be perfectly honest, I’ve been a bit pissy because the scale fairy has been pissy! I waited nearly an entire week to see the scale move AT ALL! WTH??!!?? I was compliant, didn’t change anything but still it stayed put and I was a bit pissy about it! I knew it would move eventually but I didn’t feel like posting because I didn’t want to hear ‘it will move’ cause, frankly, I just wanted to be pissy – LOL But I saw your post and figured I needed to check in because I expect you to check in too :)

I’m sorry your scale isn’t cooperating either - - but we both know it will! I’m gonna go fess up in my journal…..

And about those pee sticks - - I HATE THEM! They don’t show me anything, really. Just something for me to become obsessed with like the scale! I can see how they would be helpful in seeing you over did the carbs but right now, I’m pretty much eating the exact same thing every single day so I can’t for the life of me figure out why I pee’d purple one morning and mauve the next…. OCD OCD OCD that’s what I am, OCD!

ok, this REALLY, REALLY sucks right now. For whatever reason, my scale KEEPS climbing. At first, i was ok with it, relating it to TOM. Now, i have no idea what the problem is. I remain compliant and every morning, it's no surprise, the scale is up again. Now i am up .8 from yesterday. WTH????? It's now getting discouraging, knowing i am remaining compliant and the scale is moving in the opposite direction, for no apparent reason. I thought SQ had kidnapped the scale fairy but that wasn't it. I know, "remain compliant and it will come off" but that statement is not proving true right now. I will continue to fight thru this. Normally, you can identify the obstacle and mentally find your way over it. Problem is, i can't find my way over it because i don't even know what the obstacle is. Sandbox issues? perhaps but i don't think it should have added THIS much weight. i mean, c'mon how much do we really eat? I make sure i get plenty of water in daily (about a gallon, maybe a little more). I have started having my L&G early (lunch time) to give my body time enough to process it. Jeez, now that i think about it, discouraging doesn't even begin to describe it. Could my huge loss from 2 sunday's ago have anything to do with it? I dunno...does anyone have any insight? anything?

I am having the same thing happen here! Frustrating and discouraging! I am on program, I made sure to drink at least 6 cups of water yesterday (I stopped counting at 6 but did drink a bit more after that) and still the scale showed me gaining another .5# . I'm very cranky!

We both know the program works when we stay compliant. But this is rotten! :? :(

Keep the faith, OC and stay OP and you know it will come back off!!! Girl, it always does for you and then you'll tick us off by dropping like 10 pounds over night :)

Here's hoping that fairy visits us all real soon

yeah, yeah, yeah...keeping the faith (CHECK!), staying OP (CHECK!!), scale movage??? uh...nope, not really. This has NEVER happened to me during my entire MF career lol! I'm holding on though. I know things will turn around soon *praying* LOL @ dropping 10lbs overnight. The way i look at it, the scale fairy owes me at least 10 overnight or at least a REAL good trip to the sandbox.

Yea, man I'd love a good trip to the sand box too :) I'm feeling a lot like you regarding this not happening to me on MF before - - I wonder if my body is thinking I'll go back to eating cookies again, like before :) I have atleast seen the scale more a little in the past few days but nothing like what it typically does. It has to come off eventually if we stay OP and that keeps me going - - that and knowing that if I eat off plan that I'll gain like 5 right off the bat - - I've worked sooooo hard for the last .2 drops that I'm not going to eat off plan - - hells bells, I'm even working out! I seem to retain water after a work out - - greeaat! I think I need to start working out in the morning instead of at night so I have time to flush that out - - but I am sooooooooo not a morning person and the thought of a morning jog makes me wanna puke :) but it ticks me off to retain water because of the work out! :x

Glad you're still hanging in there - - we are so going to do it this time!

What is up with all this snow??? I guess i can look at the positive side and say that at least it reduces my level of couch potato-ness :? AND it has given me 2 days off (from work).

The scale is going down ever so slowly. I am only down .5 from last Sunday (last sunday was +1 from the previous sunday) so i am still a half pound over my lowest (this time around). Maybe by roll call on sunday, i can be back at my lowest. My average daily weight loss has dropped from .47 to .33 so now i am on average losing 2.3lbs per week (instead of 3.2). Thanks SQ for making me look at the numbers. Although i would much rather be losing 3.2/wk, 2.3 isn't too bad. It's just a big adjustment when you are used to waking up and seeing the scale drop on a daily basis. OTOH, I had on a pair of black pants that i hadn't worn in a while because they were a little snug in the hip/butt area and now they are loose. So i know things are changing. SQ, i (like you) haven't taken my measurements this time either. I have been saying for 3 weeks now that i need to find my tape measure and start keeping track. I think i will try to find the tape today and do what i gotta do. i remember it being a mental boost that i was losing inches even if the scale was being stubborn. Well everyone, i have to get on with my day. I will try to check in a little later. It seems like the boards are a lil quiet these days.

I always say I am going to take measurments and I never do..... I think I would rather just see the weight loss and the clothes fitting a little better.....

Are you all shoveled out. I hate the Jersey winter this year.

glad you stopped by katieboo. Yup i am all shoveled out and we are supposed to get more snow on monday!!! I guess at this point, we have so much snow that i really don't even care if we get more. As long as the power doesn't go out, roof collapse or anything drastic, BRING IT ON! ok yeah i am just talking junk but shoveling has been my exercise lol!

Guess what guys! on wednesday, my scale started moving...YAY! So sunday shouldn't be so bad. Just outta the blue, it moved. No big change in sandbox, no change in eating. It's like my body just finally broke thru something. I don't know what the "something" is but i hope i don't experience it again. I just popped in to post real quick because i have to get ready to go to a meeting for a college tour that my son will be going on over spring break. Jeez, my baby is growing up! :)
