My kids are trying to help orphans

Postby supermom » June 10th, 2006, 3:23 pm

Hi ya'll. This is not about MF at all. My kids are starting Vacation Bible School next week. One of the things they will be learning is about helping kids all over the world who are less fortunate than they are. We are collecting shoes and socks for kids in the United States, as well as around the world. Please visit shoes for orphan souls dot org to read more. If you are able, please support this drive. You can either donate directly to them, or send me a pm and I will give you the address to our church or my personal address and I will deliver your contribution to the church on your behalf. Be sure you send a note to the child who will get the shoes and include a picture of you and your family. The kids love to get notes and pictures!!

Nope, no limit!! Kids come in all diferent shapes and sizes. My 15 year old little brother, for example, wears a size 14 shoe. My parents are having heck keepin him clothed. He grew 6 inches since January. He lifts weights, plays football and baseball and basketball. His body from his chin down to his shoulders all looks the same. It is BIG. We call him "No Neck". But I told him it was okay that he had no neck, because I have 3 chins to make up the diference!!

They will take any shoes. Many of the people who work in the orphanages in other countries were once orphans themselves. They are uneducated and unable to find work. As a trade off for meals and a home, they work in the orphanage caring for the kids, cooking and cleaning. The VBS program is geared toward kids, because kids seem to understand other kids better. They really like knowing they have helped a child. But the ministry as a whole can use shoes of any kind!

The Web site says they only want NEW shoes. I guess mine are going to a local charity, like they usually do. Sorry.
