Just started Friday and was lucky to find you

Postby Wildrz412 » March 19th, 2005, 10:31 am

Hi, I just started Medifast on Friday and was glad to stumble upon this forum. I am encouraged by all the positive postings and words of wisdom traded here. I look forward to share my experiences (and ask for help if I stumble). To all the loosers ;) keep up the terrific work. Anyone trying to get healthy and improve longevity knows it is not easy. I have 130 pounds to go :(

Hi Wild, and welcome! Just wanted to say hi, and to echo the gals' thoughts that this is definitely the place to hang out for support and words of wisdom. The folks here are awesome, and you'll find yourself losin' like a maniac in no time. Many here have lost literally tons of weight; you'll be in good company when you make it to the 100# club, so don't lose heart. Don't think of it as having to lose 130 pounds; take one month at a time, one week at a time, or one day... heck, one hour if you need to. Weight loss is simply about making one good choice after another, so don't worry about how much you have to lose; just do your best to make good choices every day. You've already started by choosing MF and coming here! ;) You'll get there. We'll make sure of it!

Thanks, Donna (and the Other Donna, and 24K!). I'm gonna stay off the scale til next Sunday so I quit driving myself nuts; I think that'll help! And never worry-- I wouldn't leave you guys! I wouldn't even know what to do with all the free time I would have if I didn't lurk and post here all day! ;)

Wow what a reception! Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. I have taken this road many times and I know that support is high on the road to success. It is so wonderful to see your progress. It reinforces the fact that it can be done. I am on day five, doing well. I feel more energetic. Do you excercise? Can you share with me what you do and how often...I am on the 5 and 1.

Wild....they say if you were exercising previously to Medifast ..then cut your routine in half for at least the first 3-4 weeks beginning MF. If you were not exercising prior they highly recommend you DO NOT for the first 3-4 weeks....Now that was music to my ears.. :D ...I have always, always exercised .... :exercise: ....but stopped 2 months before MF so I was very happy to be compliant ...permission NOT TO EXERCISE at least for the first month .... .....however after a month I'm back on the exercise routine....20-30 min walk...or 20 min of pilates.....a much easier routine.... :D

Have a great day... 8)

Hey Wild... Donna is right! Just wanted to add that because MF so severely restricts calories, sternuous exercise can actually SLOW weight loss because your body gets shocked into thinking it has to conserve its fat cells at all costs to survive with all that exercise. (It helped me to know the "why" behind this rule because it seemed counterproductive to weight loss after my experience on 2,143 other diets...!) I have found that, because I was exercising before MF, 20 - 30 minutes of moderate walking 4 - 5 days per week is just right for me; anything too crazy seems to cause a stall for a couple of days. Others do more; others do less; others don't exercise at all and still do terrifically. Everyone is different, of course, so just start slow and see how it goes. Cut back if you find yourself stuck despite 100% eating compliance; add more exercise gradually if you want to and continue to lose and still feel good. (How's that for a non-committal answer??? ;) )
