Ok I think I'll start one of these, I like the idea of self accountability, written down somewhere. Assuming that this start (ahem, not my first try at this MF thing) is the one that's going to be the beginning of success for me, I'd also like to be able look back over my progress one day.

I did ok yesterday, some hunger issues, but not so bad. I was doing ok today too, the hunger wasn't as bad as I expected. Then dinner time came, or at least dinner preparation time. Here begins my saga:

See, my husband's job keeps him away overnight a couple times a week; yesterday was one of those days, so I didn't have to fix anything yesterday. I just nuked something easy for my son and that was no temptation for me. But today, I had to make a meal. Another problem is that my husband has strep throat right now so there's not a lot he can eat. One of the few things he can eat is mashed potatoes. I'm new at cooking and I've been trying to learn to make these from scratch for the past few weeks, not so successfully. But considering the circumstances I thought today would be worth another shot, so of course today I finally got it together and of course they finally turned out *perfect* and I CANT EAT THEM. :x So today on day 2, dinner time was tough.

But I still made it.

The end.

Cooking will get easier with time. I promise. There is also cookbooks that use 5 indgredents or less so that you don't have to be emptying your cupboards every night.

Today is day 3. All the things I thought I would have trouble with are not troubling me, but I am having some issues.

Hunger is not a problem, in fact I'm having the opposite problem. I'm not feeling hungry and when I try to drink a shake I have to force it down. By the time I finish it I feel so stuffed I sometimes feel like I might upchuck. Yuck.

Then, last night when I went to bed I was having calf cramps. When I woke up today I had a sore throat and my knees were achey, and my calves were still crampy. I walked my son to a playgroup and when I got back my whole body ached and I felt very run down and lethargic. Is it normal to feel run down as your body adjusts to the reduced caloric intake or do you think I'm probably just coming down w/ a cold? (My dh has strep but I am a carrier for strep, I NEVER get it, have never had it my whole life and I've been around it plenty).

Anyway I took some motrin and I feel no more aches or pains and the sore throat is gone. I decided to eat my L&G for lunch and my energy level is good again too. Just in case I'm taking it easy. The house is not getting picked up today and I'm not exercising--didn't I read that somewhere anyway, that you're not supposed to exercise at first until you adjust to the diet?

The only other problem I'm having is my little moochy monster. Everytime I eat my L&G, my 2yo mooches half my broccoli or my fish. :-P

Glad you feel better. I will suggest that a good idea is to make sure you replenish your potassium. Sometimes as potassium gets washed out with the water we drink, we can experience leg cramping.
Some of the replacements are higher in potassium, and the fast soups are loaded with it. In lieu of those, try a potassium tablet.

Hope you remain well.

Both my foot doctor and my chiropracter recommended calcium for leg cramps. I started taking some (make sure there is no sugar in it) and it really has helped. Another possible cause of leg cramps is dehydration. Now IF you are drinking the amount of water we are supposed to drink on this plan I can 't imagine that you are dehydrated, but if you are not well then --- you should.

It is not uncommon to feel a little lethargic while your body adjusts to the 800-900 calories a day, but after a week or so you should rebound most of your engery and even much MORE!!

Are you taking your time to drink the shakes? I found if I "chug" one because I am in a hurry to an appointment or whatever is when I get that super full feeling. If I drink/eat the MF meals the way we are told to (which is to take at least 15 minutes to finish it) then I don't get that uncomfortable feeling. One last thing... if you find that the soy based products are too filling for you you may consider trying some of the whey based one's (iced tea, fruit drinks etc). The soy is part of what makes the products so filling. The raspberry iced tea for example is quite light and more like drink than a meal, and yet still has the nutrition to be a meal.

Hope something in that helps you.

I'm not chugging them, but I'm not taking a full 15 min to drink them either. I'll try that. If that doesn't work, I'll move on to something whey based for awhile and see if that helps.

I think now I'll write about myself for a bit since I haven't given much detail. It's my journal right? So if you're not interested, feel free to stop here. :D

I'm 27, married, and I have a 2 year old son, Jack. He is the light of my life. I am worried about keeping up with him. Already he wants to go out and play a lot and right now I can kind of "cop out" and just take him to a play ground and that works, but what happens when he's bigger and he wants me to play with him? What happens when walks don't cut it anymore? Right now I couldn't keep up with anything more strenuous, so I need to do something about my weight and physical condition if for no other reason than for him, not to mention all the other issues it can cause.

Well I had a terrible weekend. So much for strep carriers not being able to get sick with strep. I got it for the first time in my life and it was really nasty. I had a really high fever with delirium, headache, body aches, chills, sore throat, nausea, and vomiting. I tried to stay on the diet, but I ended up not being able to as I was even throwing up my MF meals. I went a whole day and a half without keeping any food down. I finally saw a doctor and he told me that I needed to eat whatever I could keep down, so I did. I ended up subsisting on chicken soup and ginger ale, but very very little of either really. I'm still recovering even today.

But, I'm starting back on the diet tomorrow morning. That's all I can do. And I still lost a decent amount of weight in the first four days I was on it, so I'm still counting that.

You poor thing! Take care of yourself!! Persoanlly, I don't think this counts as falling off plan! Maybe you're still in ketosis if all you had was chicken and soup - assuming he drink was diet. Anyway, good luck getting back on it and feeling better fast!
