When I read that first line about the ER, I thought that you had
to be hospitalized over not getting your crack ~ er ~ mint bars
from the Swap n' Shop forum!! Well, they say that laughter is the
best medicine, so maybe this will help speed your recovery:

Hula, you don’t need no “crack” bars
Just say no, no, no
Yes you’ll be sad, but they’ll make you bad
And you’ll grow, grow, grow

You ain’t got the time
And we all think you’re fine
They’re tryin’ t’ make you go to restart
Don’t you go, go, go

Hey Kanani,

I'm sorry we weren't able to hook up last week, but from your posts, it looks like you weren't in any condition to meet me. I never got your phone number if you sent it. Too bad, it would have been nice to sit and talk to a real life hula girl. :D

I fell in love with the islands. In fact, we are already planning our trip back there to do all of the things we missed on this trip. While in Honolulu (sp?), our friend's son picked us up and took us to the beach. We went to one of the hotels (the old one...can't remember the name right now) and had a drink in the restaurant right on the beach. I watched the surfers and the scenery. Had a great time and thought of you.

Sorry, I've been lurking and not posting much. Things in the house have not been so good.

I took my Mom in for an MRI at the advice of the neurologist so she could better determine her condition, dementia? Alzheimers? from her mini strokes. They found a benign tumor in the area of her brain behind her left ear. The doctor's need to see if the tumor has to be removed.
We still have good days and bad days. Today has already started to be a bad one for her. My compliance has been suffering, because of emotional eating I must have gained 10 or so pounds. Binging and purging every day needs to stop. I'm afraid to weigh in, but I can tell because my clothes are tight.

I know I need to seperate my emotions from my eating.... but as you all know, this is what my weakness is. I need to focus and not let life's events determine what I put in my mouth.

My new goal is to reach my original goal weight of 120 pounds by Christmas... December 25, 2007. Get it done.

I am sorry to here about your mother. Dementia is a hard thing to handle. I volunteered for the Alzheimer's assoc. at Victoria Ward Center many many moons ago. They are a free service that offers support for caregivers more so than the actual patient.

I just read a saying on the forum somewhere that I just love and is really helping me right now.

"Nothing tastes as good as being pround of my actions feels" I love this saying over the traditional one (being thin feels) because food is instant gratification and being thin feels, well, I won't feel that for a while. I can have instant gratification though, by being proud of my actions at any particular moment :cheerleader: .

Good luck with your goals!

Hula, I am very sorry to hear about what you are going through. I can relate to a lot of it because in the last years of his my father's life I was his caretaker for some time. I just recently had the battle with bulimia again too. It must be so difficult for you to get through a day. I will be praying for you and your family. Don't give up!

Thank you Charity. I love that quote. I've kept it in my head all day and it really helped me to get through and stay compliant.

I will look into the Alzheimer's Assoc. too. It sounds like a wonderful organization much needed by my Mom and me and my family.
Mahalo for your insight and encouragement

If you ever need something to do or someone to talk to feel free to PM or email me. I am home and on the computer most of the time since I am on disabilty and listing stuff on Ebay. I watched my mom care for her mom with Alheimers and mini strokes. Not the same thing as it actually being your mom, but I understand what you are feeling right now. Feel free to use me as a sounding board anytime!

BTW great job for staying compliant today. One meal at a time right?

I'll be taking you up on that offer Rodeomom. Thank you for the support. My Mom's bad days spur on huge mood swings that sometimes turn into her yelling at whoever is in the house, and if I'm not in the right frame of mind to take a step back and remember her condition, it turns into a big ole yelling match between she and I. :| So taking a breather and talking to someone would really help to calm me down or just help to get my head on straight, and ultimately stop me from heading to the fridge for some comfort food. Thanks for being here for me. :rose:

What a very tough situation for you, your family and your mother. I hope there is a way to get some assistance so that you can have some breathing space and relaxation during the day to recharge your mental batteries without turning to off program eating.

Remember to take care of you!!
