How tall are you?

Postby Prancer » July 11th, 2006, 1:17 pm

I often look at everyone's goals and wonder where the differences lie...is it that some people (lol DeDe) are tall and some of us average and some petite?

Or maybe people are content at certain weights. I set my goal at exactly what I need to be to be "normal" according to the BMI. Who knows if I will stick with it or change it.

I am 5'7"

5 ft. 8

I chose a weight that I've been at as an adult that I can maintain...I used to be under 140...but I was really skinny.

5' 8" tall....I chose a weight that I remember I felt good at...it may change. I've been 120 (Anorexic days...long story) and I've been 275...I remember feeling good at 150 once I had therapy for the anorexia but didn't think I could get that low again at my age (47). So I settled with 160.

5'4" with a small frame. I wear a size 5 1/2 or 6 shoe, and my 4 year old's hands are the same size as mine. I chose 115 because it is "normal" on the chart. But, I have now and have always had a lot of muscle mass. So, I may not go that far down, and I may go lower. 115 was the high end of normal. I go more by how I look, feel and fit into my clothes!!

I am 5'4". I chose 150 lbs just because. I think I am going to lower it to 145 so I am considered healthy on the BMI. 150 is still considered overweight :(

Tall Girl

Postby alohacate » July 11th, 2006, 2:46 pm

I'm 5'10. I'm not sure who wrote about being tall and how different it is too carry extra weight, but it really struck home for me. I've lost 17lbs and no one has seemed to notice

I am 6' tall, and I do have lots of muscle mass... I based my goal weight on something I felt I would be comfortable at and that I felt I would be able to easily maintain. However, I will get there and see how it feels. I am toying with the idea of 165 or even 160... I was there awhile back, but was still struggling with eating disorders at the time. So, that might be too thin for me. We'll see. I want to be a lean, feminine muscle machine ... but most of all, I want to be strong and healthy.

Cheers,
Karli

Karli I think it was your posts that I read (about us tall girls and how we carry our weight!) I based my goal on what my doctor suggested.

I'm 5'9". I based my goal on the weight my body stopped at last time I lost a lot of weight and I was really toned and fit.

BMI, schmee-MI. It doesn't ever agree with what my body wants to do.

I'm 5-foot-2. I picked 125 because that's what I was able to comfortably maintain previously, and it's well within the range of "normal" weight. I thought about lowering it further, and I still might, but I figure I'll decide once I get there. I'm already starting to focus more on exercise, so my muscle mass will be increasing (and already has been, because my main focus is strength training).

I was just thinking today that I think my new goal will be focused on body fat percentage.

i'm 5'4-- and a half!

i picked 160 because i look good at that weight, and i can always lower it.
it seems attainable, if you know what i mean. realistically, i should be between 125 and 135, but that seems too far out of reach right now.

if i can drop 140lbs, my body will like me a lot better.
